@ TomeOne
The "blue background" can be switched off - it's just an option that is enabled by default on unbranded firmware that keeps the GPRS connected the whole time.
Go into Connectivity > Data comm. > Preferred service > GSM only

will switching off the "gsm and gprs" option in the conectivity menu that u speak of, lead to a lose of functionality in mms messaging for example? because i think that mms messages are delivered through gprs |

No, MMS, e-mail and other GPRS programs will work fine. I have gprs switched off from menu in both t610 and k700, but still using gprs for e-mail, wap, mms and everything is working fine |

It doesn't switch GPRS off as such, it just means it's not connected the whole time. When you want to go on WAP or send an MMS, for example, it will connect.

I have R2AY004 and I don't know it those changes were there in recent updates but here it is:
- When new contacts are transferred or synchronized, the default number is the mobile one unlike before.
- pressing "ok" when the alarm rings doesn't disable it completely like before. Now you have to confirm your choice otherwise it'll ring 9 minutes later. |

Does the latest R2AY004 also include zoom functionality in pictures stored in the phone memory? |

Newton, is it R2AY005 or R2AY004 as page 1 says? Furthermore i quote from page 1:
"R2AY004
- Released by DaVinci on 24/5/05
- Released on SEUS 10/6/05"
******************and a few lines below*************
"The latest Firmware on SEUS is R2AN001 for O2 phones and R2AE033 for unbranded / other operators."

There shouldn't be any need to borrow that DSS-25, just pop into a local SE service center and provided that still have the purchase receipt they should be keen to update your handset to the latest available software which is R2AY004. |
