Some say camera quality wil remain same as this is hardware based. Some say quality can be improved via firmware updates! But then some also say that firmware cannot be updated on proto phones?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
You can definitely flash the firmware on prototype phones. We do it all the time when trying different software builds.
There were some camera firmware updates during P1 development, so I wouldn't rule it out, but then that may not apply to retail devices. |

Jimster, so would you say a prototype once new firmware has been zapped on would be almost same quality as a retail version?
Obviously there may be some minor physical faults with a proto, but nothing in terms of usability? camera? etc? |

Not having played with many retail versions, I don't really know.
It usually depends how late the version of prototype is. Screens and things can be updated all the way to final release. On the P1 it was only the latest prototypes that had the same screen as the retail device.
Software wise, if I flashed the equivalent of the publicly released software build, I would obviously have the same functionality (plus a couple of debug tools probably).

I'm confused right now.
I looked up different sites for the spec, some of them (mobileburn, etc) state it supports EDGE and some of them (gsmarena, etc) say no EDGE supported.
Which is true? |
