Used my short lil nails lol, was too scared to use anything else as i didnt want to end up scratching the display underneath by mistake.
Havent had accidental unlocks.

Lol, oh well  if it does eventualy need one il go and get one, not too worried though, as even my 5800 doesnt have visible scratches and i use the stylus on its screen alot.

Peeled the pre-applied screen protector off 5 months ago and have zero scratches on my x10. Don't carry phone in same pocket as keys obviously |

Bad idea removing the protector, my screen has never been in contact with anything hard or rough and yet i have deep and visible scratches despite being super careful. I'm pretty sure it isn't mineral glass eventhough they say so.

Well it oviousley must have een in contact with something, or it wouldn't have scratches?

The screen looks like it is made of the same material as the C905 which is hardened synthetic material, and not mineral glass.
How I found this out is if you hold the X10 at each end lengthways between your thumb and index finger and then apply pressure to twist the phone slightly, the whole phone 'flexes' along with the display and if the phone display was actually made of mineral 'glass' that wouldn't happen - the display would be rigid. So the display, as I suspected, is actually synthetic - although very good material at that.
I've had my C905 for over 18 months without a screen protector and the screen is still as good as new.
If there is a screen protector out there that repels oily fingers then I'd invest in one.

The screen is supposed to be scratch resistant and the original protector is an anti-shatter sheet rather than a scratch resistive protector.
I started removing mine in the bottom left corner with a very sharp knife at a very shallow angle then pulled it once it started to come. The old glue is really strong, stronger than any I've seen or used in the past and it fooled the guys down at my local phone repair place, they were adamant there wasn't a protector already on there.
@superleeds27 I have a Martin Fields protector on mine I preferred the original protector though, the Martin Fields one has a very slight purpleish tint (I'm slightly colour blind so it might be blue) which is more noticeable under bright light. I found that where the screen gets warmest and rubs my leg this purple tinge is gone so I've ended up with a perfectly clear stripe down the middle of my screen and purple sides. You can see the effect I mean if you reflect sunlight onto a white wall from the screen, the bright area will have the tell tale purple and white. I'll see if I can get a picture of it for you all to see. Also the Martin Fields screen protector has a cut out for the light sensor (which annoys me, I want my cover to unnoticeable) and requires a bit of elbow grease to make the front silky smooth to run your finger over out of the box it feels slightly sticky. I found a cheap 1 protector from the market in Beijing looked and performed better.

@ goldenface: you flexed your phone?
Taking off pre-applied well fitting screen covers and flexing phones isn't something that i would be comfortable doing..

Nope, super careful as in i've never put it face down, never in the same pocket with my keys, never let it out of my sight, never dropped it, nothing. I just wonder what would happen to the screen if it's actually dropped

Can see what you mean, doesn't fit as nicely as the original either really! Seems to like fingerprints too. Wish i hadn't have taken the original off now!

gt a it of dust in the corner while applying so took it off and went to wash it.
Washed it, used a hairdryer to dry it like it tells me to. When i reapply i can see circles, like dry water droplets. Cleaned and cleaned and these are for sure on the inside.
How the hell am i supposed to get rid of them, washed again, but they just re-appear in different places!
