Old news like the X10.
And you think I'm damn stupid, and I had not known that? Come on, you can't be that shallow-brained...
I tried to bring you back to the reality, that wifi problem isn't deal-breaker, or if so, why on earth do people still buy iPhone 4, since its problems are miles heavier?

Everyone knows people buy iPhones because they are brand retarded imbeciles. Are you saying people should buy Sony Ericsson even though the faults and old Android version and be happy with it?
That does actually make you a brand retarded imbecile then doesn't it.

I think the wifi problem is not X10 problem but individual phone problem (defects). If it is a problem for x10, why not everybody having it ?
I keep my wifi, gps, 3G and bluetooth on all the time. The GPS is use for weather updates. But the wifi and 3G connectivity is interchangeable depending on coverage area and wifi will be higher priority. |

@Toney_Ericsson
I thought the well documented wifi issue is to do with going in and out of range of different mobile antennae e.g. when you are on the move or if you house unluckily sits on between two antennae then when your phone changes from one to the other the wifi connection is reset. This can happen even within a small flat if you're unlucky and it was fixed in R2BA020 (the problem recurred in the R2BA026 update). The other problem you mentioned about the wifi dropping when the screen turns off is the power saving thing, that I just found (thanks @tobias84) can be turned off.

This problem is well known about from X10 release and has got worst through firmware updates, in an area where gsm signal comes and goes it also drops wifi connection and drops wifi again when gsm signal returns
The videos here show it

Also you just got to do a search in google and the results show here people all around the world have this same problem so it can't be defect individual batches or individual phones

Also another thing it's now apparent that the X10 Mini Pro has the exact same wifi dropping issue look here

I'm going to be sooo glad when the HTC Desire HD is released with N-series supporting wifi on my 50mb N-series connection network, none of that b or g crap and I doubt there will be a wifi connection drop issue just because gsm signal comes and goes.

I've actually always found this area to have excellent gsm signal coverage so why gsm signal is completely going and returning could well be another issue as people in other countries on different networks thousands of miles away are having the same problem.
I don't have this problem on any other phones, never have done.

...Sony Ericsson considers a handset's life-cycle to be 2 years, is what I read somewhere deep in their product blog.

Would that be two years from announcement or shipping?
Anyway, they seem to be doing things differently with the X10, at least there have been a string of regular updates, however minor, which proves they haven't given up developing the software, unlike they've done with some other phones in their portfolio. Carrying on with these updates will at least give us some confidence that any future purchases will be supported too.
The X10 has only been on the market 5 - 6 months and it's already has more updates than some other SE phones have ever had.

Must be two years from shipping. Surely a phone is not live till it's started selling.
With the last few handsets I've had from SE they been November releases and February/March updated with very small bug fixes may 2 months after that, which makes about 6 months to the last update. With the exception of C905 which had the smile detection add-on all my previous SE phones had no extra features added in updates. In that way X10 has broken the mould as it is having quite a few features added in.
Let's hope the big update coming up isn't a flash in the pan and a final update. I'm still hoping for perhaps Flash to be added in at a later date.

I think it was for 2.2 from what I've heard. It was supporting prioritized inbox.

Froyo was never intended for release in Q4, it's Eclair and not Froyo.
It's a shame it's been pushed back, but on the upside we may get something that doesn't have loads of bugs in it. I rather have a nice clean update than something that's going to screw my battery up again, or the like.
What this really shows, and it's been mentioned before is that SE just don't have the resources (or don't want to) to commit to supporting their version of the "skin" on the X10. Timescape and Mediascape and the actual skin seem to the be the big problem here with delivery of 2.1. Although I don't hate it, I think both timescape and mediascape are overrated and I don't tend to use them. SE would have been better of using the stock versions with Android as it's pretty obvious they don't have the resource to pour time and effort into an HTC Sense type overlay.
It's my opinion that without SE's skin we would be on 2.2 by now.
Your correct I should have said 2.1! And that makes the situation better?
I knew Timescape and Mediascape would be problematic that's why I chose to buy my first non SE phone since the T68 with My N1 and subsequently the Desire I have to be honest and say I thought the HW looked pretty awful as well before I held one but the reality was not good either.
Seems I was right on all counts, A Shame really SE used to make great innovative devices a bit creaky but at least they used to have the WOW factor.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |
