Will it be closer to stock Android? Something like what Motorola is doing now?
No I don't think so...remember that Sony UXP is in my opinion closest
to stock android with addition of apps and theme changes. I will post if I get more info.
The only, unfortunate, info I've got is that they are behind schedule ......

I hope that doesn't mean they will have to delay the new devices, but I also hope they don't rush it and end up having performances issues. I'd rather they delay the devices imo... Imo all OMEs should give up on skinning Android if it causes delays and just focus on adding useful features and apps, that's what really matters and that would also help push Android more... Users can skin the OS by them selves anyway... |

Any idea what kind of screen the 7 inch tablet will have? meaning, good viewing angles, will the design be like the larger tablet and the XZ? And is there a scheduled introduction date and date when it will be available for purchase?
Sony tablets have never had viewing angle problem. All Sony tablets have exceptional viewing angles. So that's just a non issue. No other details are available now
Tablet Z does

Yep, it uses the same display as the Z. Sony is going cheap on the displays to get a bigger margin. |

Hmm I feel I won't be able to replace my 7.7 yet, argh. Hopefully more info on the tablet will leak soon. Although maybe Sony will have a good windows tablet in the near future.

Jesus Christ, people are still complaining about stupid viewing angles, is that so freaking important?
Man, what is now so important about viewing angles, tell me please, we all know people look front at the screen not side of the screen, so tell why is it so impotent that stupid over hype viewing angles? |

Personally, my fascination with viewing angles has been influenced by owning the S2 and 7.7 tab. For the prices one pays for a Sony product, which is usually comparable to it's competition, the viewing angles should be the same or at lest very close. |

This is the problem with Sony. They think if they slap on some fancy marketing words like "Bravia engine" people wont notice the cheap screens. Samsung is winning because everything in their phones (except build quality ) is top notch. Everything from the screen to nand memory.
And worf, if people choose from two different screens and they are similar but one has a lot better viewing angles they are going to pick that one no matter how "pointless" it is. I think Sony has lost thousands of sales in Sweden alone because of this f**king stupid decision. |

Like in HDTV's, displays with good viewing angles are regarded as high quality panels. That means that a lot more effort has been put in to produce a panel with good viewing angles while maintaining the quality of the screen as viewed head on. These tradition of characterizing panel quality has gone down to smaller mobile phone panels. So, to put it, display panels with poor viewing angles regardless of how good it is when viewed head on are inferior in quality compared to phone displays with good viewing angles.
Now, it depends on the users on which they prefer. IMO, given how I interact with my phone, I'd prefer one with good viewing angles. |

Imo the screens of Galaxy S, S3 and S4 are awful pentile panels with color distortion and lack of sharpness. View angles are much less important. HTC's screens last year were the best...
