Sorry to sound so petty, if they say they only do silver im sure ill still buy the damned thing, its become a must have!

Oh, don't worry this thread has been off topic for a while now... It's starting to turn into a trash thread.

@ max, certainly, like you said creativity isn't created or determined by any sort of computer or software, but in stop motion (and live action film to a larger extent along with their whole production) and the music industry the long reigning tools of these particular trades have been Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools running on Macs. If you want to have a long healthy career in any field, then you should definitely become intimately familiar with the tools and machines the people of whatever that perspective trade or field use (they are just tools btw, the particular T-O-O-L-S we use), and that's a fact kids across the board. Now, maybe like you said creativity is being hampered by this. "Oh noz, you mean we HAVE to use Final Cut to work in Hollywood?!?" Now understand that to be a "creative type" (read:artist) in MY field you HAVE to be intimately familiar with these tools and machines of my particular field of design (which might I add I PERSONALLY prefer over the alternative...), argument over... Now, can we please get back on topic?

More of an aside to myself: I'm seriously tired and fatigued of having to talk in circles around the points I'm trying to make or discuss to people on here about things beside the point I'm making, that might I also add they obviously don't comprehend and understand, or even care to comprehend and understand to begin with....

P.S. not all "artist" are necessarily Graphic Designers or Illustrators FYI, mentioning Adobe's PDF standard...

I have been using the X1 for about 15 days now. Quite happy with it excepts a few issues.

I have suddenly started facing this issue since yesterday evening. I am using a short mp3 tone as a message tone. This was working fine all these days. But suddenly the message tone does not ring. I mean the phone just vibrates. did a soft reset but still the same. Tries using the default SE tone but the same. The call ringtones and all work great. Dunno whats the issue with the SMS tone!

Any clue whats happening?

Maybe the alarm isn't pointing to the mp3 file anymore?

On the screen where you set the tone, there is also an option to turn it on or off.

You might be using the 'wap' access point of your operator instead of 'internet'.

Check your internet account settings.

Btw, I'm sure you meant to say 'guys'

I had this problem, but with calls. Try going into the sounds and notifications settings, and select messages. Is it set to Vibrate? Change it to Vibrate and Ring. I dunno how mine got set to Vibrate, but if I adjusted the volume using the rocker on the side of the phone, it would indicate it had changed the volume, but when the volume bubble disappeared and I changed volume again, it would be set as silent again. It was pissing me off for days until I thought maybe the setting in sounds and notifications wasn't being changed by the volume keys!

Does anyone have any good info on when a firmware update is coming out?

Ok all, I've mentioned several times on this forum the problems I've had both getting the Sling Mobile Player and a NES emulator to work on the X1 with out much help from anyone here. Left to my own devices, I found solutions to both, and want to share them with anyone else who maybe having the same problems I had without much help. I am now happy to report that Sling DOES in fact work on the X1 (although it is kind of buggy and a major battery drainer...) and also managed to find a working NES emulator, after many many hours on my own Googling and experimenting....

Any who, if you need to get Sling Player working on your X1 then make sure you download it from Sling's site using either IE or by manually entering their mobile site in Opera, since using Opera alone sends you to their desktop site with the desktop download (spent about 30 minutes on that one with Sling customer Service trying to figure it out, and a lot of help they were btw...)! After you've started the download open/install the CAB like you would any other piece of software on WM, then open the Sling Mobile Player App in your application folder like you would any other app. To set up your Sling player press the bottom left corner and a (invisible) menu should pop up! Viola, do what you do to set up your sling box settings, and you should be ready to go! BTW, if you all already have a software license from another Sling Mobile Player that you may have purchased in the past (for a Symbian S60 or UIQ version), then just enter that one!!! I was about to purchase a PPC license when I figured I'd try my old Symbian S60 one first, and wouldn't you know it worked! So, there is no need to buy another license if you already have a license for a different Sling Mobile Player!

As for the emulator I found that works, the only one that properly worked and supported full screen resolution at WVGA (along with the ability to fully map keyboard buttons and screen presses) was SmartGear which has worked flawlessly so far and supports not only NES ROMs; but GBC, Game Gear, Master System, Turbo Grafix-16, and Genisis/MegaDrive ROMs! All in all it's pretty cool piece of software that I'd highly recommend if you're hankering for some game emulation on your X1 and don't mind paying a little for it! The author of the software has the full download available on his website that you can download as a demo that initially plays for about 2 minutes at a time, so you can make sure your ROMs work, before it quits. The guy that created SmartGear is constantly upgrading it with new features, and has some pretty cool stuff planned for it with future revisions (of which all are free after buying the initial license. This means you constantly have a updated version that supports new devices and features, unlike some of the other older freeware solutions found around online that may not even work and can be up to 5 years old in some cases)! If you're satisfied with locked version you can then buy a license for the full version at the price of $10.00 via PayPal.

Check it out at:

Hope this helps anyone having issues with these particular things like I was!

No problem, me too.... I wish someone could have pointed me to this stuff in the beginning, it would have saved me countless hours. On that note, I haven't had the easiest time so far finding all of the software I wanted that I thought I easily would online like most people said I would, in part thanks to the X1's unconventional screen size... It's been a real nightmare so far. It's almost usable as a every day phone now, however I've never EVER had to download this much software or do this much tweaking and servicing just to get a phone this close to useable... I have not enjoyed this part of it so far, but hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on out (provided the bugs that came with all of the software compromises don't get to me that is) since I've finally managed to get everything I need on it. Good luck on your purchasing decision!
