Too bad, I despise OLED screens. Each Galaxy screen (no matter how advanced) looks oversaturated and cheap. Hate OLED's with passion and would much rather settle for LCD flaws.
Will this 4K phone be introduced at IFA '17 or MWC '18?

Pardon me, but in every recent saturation test the galaxy screens have been near enough perfect with a deltaE of less than 3 at nearly all points. They certainly have been more accurate than Sony LCDs which have been significantly blue-shifted with a pure white colour temperature of close to 10000k as opposed to the reference value of 6500k.
The percived "oversaturation" is likely due to the higher contrast ratio as the OLED panels are self emissive and have true blacks. |

Just to let you know, the AMOLED on Galaxy phone is something rubbish, which nothing could compare with the mighty STE-OLED
STE-OLED is mighty class OLED technology, to comparing with AMOLED, AMOLED is just a tiny little dust in front of OLED technology |

Thank you everybody who contributed with OLED explanations. I am cautiously optimistic about Sony's new screen though I would still prefer LCD just to make sure. Let's hope for a great succesor to XZ Premium.
The Chinese flagship will start offering phones with 8GB of RAM in a few days, fingers crossed for something like this ending up in XZ1 Premium. |

We have no idea how much backdoor placed inside those flagship from China, 8GB RAM mean of poor optimization on their system(possibly those backdoor)
I think we should ask, why Sony stay with 3GB RAM for very long time. I would say, Sony's optimization is good enough which could somehow win even others got 4GB RAM
btw, seriously, Google what is STE-OLED.....i was amazed the first time i know about this OLED technology |

Adding 6 or 8GB of RAM is nothing more than a tactic the China droid manufacturers use to entice customers to purchase their products. Along with aggressive pricing and stacked features, it's what they need to do to have any chance of grabbing market share outside Asia. But with the aggressive pricing comes poorer quality and poor after sales support. At least it's what I've noticed in Australia.
4GB is plenty currently. Hell, even 3GB is IMHO. What could you possibly need 6/8GB RAM on a phone for?

Take a look at comparison between xz/xzs and you will understand why more memory is always better.

not if you can't use it. screen resolution, Android OS...etc many factors influence the actual performance |

Indeed, However the SoC, Display and so many thing in XZ and XZs is almost the same except camera, Memory.
So it's a good example.

Esato was founded in the year 2001 and was mainly targeted at Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. We started with a couple of services offering free ringtones, grayscale logos for the Ericsson T39 and R520 models. We have expanded the service to include free color backgrounds for over 50 mobile phone models. Other popular services are the discussion forum for anyone interested in topics about mobile phones and accessories. Even if the focus was targeted at Sony Ericsson owners, we now have separate forums for owners of other brands. The most popular sections are the News, Blog, discussion forum, Free themes, free color backgrounds and a service where users can upload images from a PC and download a converted image down to their mobile phone.

It's kinda funny to see Sony's efforts after all these years. Year after year fanboys would dream of Sony coming up with an outstanding phone that would trump its competitors, but that's never gonna happen.
The naming convention is idiotic; Z series convention was okay, but the new X series has only made things more confusing. X Performance, X, X Compact, XZ, XZs, XZ Premium, XA, XA Ultra, XA1, XA1 Ultra.. those names are just laughable. Why would anyone name a phone XZs?
Sony's camera performance is pathetic. It's been proved time and again, but aren't the Sony management people embarrassed that other OEMs are producing stellar results with the same sensors while Sony itself falls flat? It's high time Sony realized cramming 20.7/23/19 MP into a sensor isn't gonna magically produce good results.
Moving on to bezels, have you guys seen an XZ Premium and Galaxy S8+ side by side? The XZ Premium looks like it's from 2012. It's not like the stereo speakers make those bezels really worthy, cuz those stereo speakers aren't too loud. HTC flagships' speakers run circles around Xperia flagships' speakers.
The software is relatively closer to Vanilla Android, but those icons are ugly. And those huge navigation icons take up a lot of space on the display cutting down the info one can view on the display.
High prices - Sony makes two devices with crappy MediaTek SoCs and demands $300-400. And you guys wonder Sony is running out of the business.
The only saving grace of Xperia phones is software updates.
While your observations are indeed correct (I've been saying they should consolidate their lineup so its simpler, and indications are they are moving away from the commodity smartphone market and trying to be a bit more Apple-like), Sony aren't running out of the business. They're one of the few OEM's in the market making a profit. Sure they aren't making as much of a profit as Apple, but then nobody is. The key is, they are making a profit. |
