Nothing regarding X series, but:
FM Radio added to latest Concept Marshmallow firmware (MMB29V.Z1.3568)

Supposedly microsoft has leaked a new snapdragon SoC, MSM8998, I wouldn't got as far to call it the 830 or 823 or whatever, but it is a new SoC and it probably will be above the current 820 (MSM8996).
So either we are looking at a new SoC for 2017 or a variant of the current 820 with faster clock or some other advantages.
Hypothetically speaking if a new xperia or xperias is to arrive at IFA, then perhaps the MSM8998 could be used but if the SoC is slated for a 2017 debut, then either the 820 will be used or no new devices will appear at IFA. |

Presumably we would get a 820+ SoC at IFA and a proper 830 SoC flagship in H1 2017.
In other news, while Sony is shrinking the sensor size, Samsung is increasing it;

Wait, when and where has it been stated that Sony are going for smaller sensors. All their cameras for flagships have had 1/2.3 sensors... The only thing that has decreased is the pixel pitch because their newest sensor has a higher resolution. |

Cool, so the 823 is a 14nm shrink for 820... good for IFA launch I guess
But, 830 sounds cooler as a 10nm remake with newer CPU & GPU cores , sadly Sony chose Q4 for their flagship meaning they're not targeting the newest Qualcomm SoC, but the upgraded version...

Snapdragon 820 is already on 14nm, there is no shrink. 830 would be a shrink to 10nm from 14nm. |

There you go, the latest sensor from Sony is 2.6;

Anything but. Too big + big bezels, old design, little RAM, poor display calibration (as always), mediocre camera (there are first previews of the XPerformance's camera and pictures are awful), stupid price. The worst flagship A.D. 2016 and it's not even out yet.

So the camera is awful... just as I've expected. Well, Sony is making it easy for themselves with this lemon flagship, there are 0 reasons for it to exist alongside everything Sony does in mobile. I wish they keep going as a niche brand where they belong, but I don't hold my breath. |

^ Not true. If I recall correctly Xperia Z5 was amongst the first announced to use the 820 chipset, just slightly later in shipping.
At this rate it maybe more beneficial, efficient and cheaper to purchase an efficient robost cpu manufacturing company with great resources and MUST better than standard engineering team and bring it in house to develop their mobile and console chips. This equals to much faster development and no restrictions or policy's to turn over patents and technology output to other competitors.
case in point: Apple owns one such company and:
die shrink has been very competitive along with better performing chips and first mobile 128-bit modern chip. They actually BEAT Qualcomm and others to 64bit mobile chip, quite sad really.

Awe ... too big bezels is makign the little penguino feel a little pingu (small) LMAO sorry couldn't resist.
Enough of this bezel stupidness ... phones drop, screens STILL crack, shatter and break. Until Corning brings down the manufacturing costs for more ballistic type glass tech they use in other industries - they have it already just cost - then bezels have a proper use case. If no bezel no protection from damage until the glass fully sustains the shock/vibration from the typical and slightly deliberate intent to damage the screen.
