There doesnt seem to be that much talk these days for the future of SE phones. Whats going on with the S60 joint venture? Were we not meant to be getting some handsets announced for SE sometime this year?

Sony Ericsson always had OMAP phones... in Japan. See SO906i, SO905i, ad SO905iCS. |

MOAP is used in Japan by DoCoMo carrier. I don't know any other phone with MOAP.
I was just reading a review by GSMArena on the 5800 XpressMusic and my oh my they have so many complaints with the S60 UI in general. I was laughing my way through that section of the review. S60 5th Edition includes touch support... not designed FOR touch. I find that a huge problem, especially competing with other operating systems, and I do not want Sony Ericsson to have S60... at least until the OS matures itself.
More Sony Ericsson Japanese News Here: Coach has teamed up with Sony Ericsson Japan for a cover for the re.

I never loved nokia's implementation of a UI at all, that's why i still prefer SE UI (even if it's old looking now) the double tapping thing is a big mistake in the history of the touchscreen interface imho. there were probably two UI platforms left where SE is involved which has a better UI than the S60 5th (WM7 and Android, save for SF) but since WM7 is still far from being released and i still expect bloats on the OS that could slow down even a device installed with such a nice hardware (1Ghz CPU perhaps) android would still be the most preferable OS for SE to revolutionize their UI development plus the fact that android isn't that hard to learn for them given their sheer amount of java programmers.
