at e90 the one of the most important point is the form factor, cos its really not a small fone. imo it depends on your needs, for what u would use it. if u like the qwerty keypad, u can also give a try for e61i

Hi John,

The speaker issues and the keyboard touching the screen where only problems on the initial release which is why Nokia stopped selling them until they resolved these problems.

I don't know how bad the Voda branding is but if it is anything like the N95 8GB it appears to be very little until it's unbranded and then you notice a huge difference. It is very easy to change the product code and flash it with Generic firmware. This will invalidate the Voda warranty but not the Nokia warranty is my understanding although the Voda ones seem to have a horrible VodaFone badge just above the front keypad on the latest versions i have seen.

I have had my current E90 for about 7 weeks now and have not had any problems at all, it really is rock solid stable and even running Seven all ways on push E-Mail over WiFi 20 hours a day the battery lasts with just an overnight charge. It can run Blackberry connect and they only missing function is you can't respond to PIN Messages although you can receive them.

But it is an either love it or hate type of device i love it and don't find it as large or heavy as some are happy to suggest, the large internal screen and full qwerty keyboard can't be beaten IMO if that's what you need and are looking for. Web browsing is a joy with no side scrolling required and properly encoded films or TV shows in full wide screen are of excellent quality.

Only really you can decide if it is the right devcie for you or not a lot really depends on what you want it to be able to do for you.

Marc

My E65 has never had an issue with it's cable, I've had it switch off once since July 2007, and it has not done it since the firmware upgrade.

Dogmann, thanks for the detailed reply - you've pretty much provided exactly what I was looking for, confidence the device does what it says on the tin. I did consider the E61 but I don't like the form factor, the E70 was tempting but couldn't find one for a reasonable price and I would have preferred a larger screen. I really liked the keyboard and general form factor of the HTC Wizard and Hermes (XDA Mini S and Vodafone VPA III) but didn't like the hardware, I think Windows mobile needs a grounds up rewrite as the market has changed from PDA only devices to pretty much combined PDA/phones.

Anyway, placed my order for the E90 earlier this afternoon and reading your post I think I've made the right decision. Amusingly at work the other week someone was commenting on the fact that I only had 'large' devices, 17 inch laptop, Olympus E-3 and a Nokia N93...the E90 will fit right in.

Well congratulations and i hope it serves you well if you need any assistance feel free to ask there is a how to debrand guide in this section of the forum and if you need a UK product code just ask and i will dig it up for you if you decide to debrand.

I actually still miss my N93 and the E90 feels smaller than that as well it's definitely thinner although maybe a little longer.

Yeah im told alot by other members to debrand the sucker,
but I like the branding lol

btw I really don't think it will fix my issue!

ive been bashing it about using the slider slamming it so far it's not turned off maybe the cold made it switch off last week for a change

its warrantied till the end of 2009 so i'll just have to get used to the fact it nay need attention every so many weeks lol

Vodafone offer a home repair service which I never knew about,
basically if your unable to get down to there shop,
they'll make arrangements to collect my phone and go from there..

well I think thats what he ment

Thanks Dogmann, will probably take you up on that at some point

It is a bit bulkier than I had prepared myself for but I think with a decent horizontal case it will be fine. Would have preferred the front keypad to be spaced out a bit more as there's plenty of room.

Other than that though first impressions are good, I think it looks classy and feels well built. Both screens are bright and colourful, as expected the internal keyboard is excellent. Can't get away from that internal screen though I mean wow - it's hard to believe the external screen is the same resolution as the N93, it seems so tiny. It's really impressive how well S60 works with the large screen in fact you'd be forgiven for thinking it had been written with the communicator in mind.

Just looking at accessories now, going to order up an official case but not found an in car holder that quite matches what I'm after though.

Psst! This is the whisper in you're ear ... get rid of that E65 FAST (recover lost $$) and fall back to a backup phone. Then await the new E61i replacement .

@johnmcl7

First tip to make the inner screen brighter hold CTRL and the light bulb button there 4 settings available.

Also IMO the best cases are either the PDAir Horizontal case or the Bugatti comfort case both can be found on E-Bay as can a in car holder that allows you to have the inner screen showing.
