Hi guys,
I am looking to get my first smartphone and have found this topic to be very educational, way beyond anything I could hope to get out of a review, for example. So let me say, first of all, thank you for that.
However, I need your advice on one area that is important to me that does not seem to have been directly touched upon.
I would like to put a huge 87MB pdf document on the smartphone whether that be the P990 or the Tytn.
This particular document is indexed so it can't be broken down into smaller documents. And I am usure whether either phone has enough memory to load it and access it.
So, what do you think? Do you think they can handle such a large 87MB pdf document? |

I've tried a 60mb pdf and it opened and worked fine on the tytn, not sure about 87mb but I think it should work as it doesn't load the whole thing into memory I believeit loads the pdf page by page, I will check later on a 100 mb pdf and let you know. |

Well im not sure about .pdfs but when ive loaded my current video (Star Trek First contact.........450 mb....hehehehehe) using TCPMP it works a charm, i figure the apps should be written with little RAM in mind?? |

Ive just got p990 today as an upgrade, ive also had a tytn for the last month. i have loved the tytn but i think ill be selling it whilst its worth lots! The p990 looks nicer feels nicer and works better! the camera is much better the phones lighter(the tytn is a brick) the screen is better and its ALOT easier to use! i wouldnt recommend the tytn to anyone that has never had a smartphone before its alot more complicated and harder to work than the p990. |

funny the price of the Tytn has gone up(now520pounds) at expansys whilst that of the p990 has gone down(489pounds) a decline of 100+p0unds very interesting ......i hope this does not pump up the price of the upcoming trinity

At one point the TyTn was only UKP440 at www.clove.co.uk

Expansys pricing is no model for discussion, except perhaps for unusual pricing behaviour, as there rarely seems to be any logic to it.
for example, the i-mate JasJar has stayed at well over £600 pounds since launch a year ago and has only recentlyt dropped to below £600
btw. for on topic info, my P990 is back in its place (hidden away) and My TyTN is numero uno again.
I'll be selling the P990 when I get back to London in a couple of weeks as I have now had my VAt refund form stamped so I can reduce my loss by about £80 fortunately. Glad to see the back of it to be honest!

even if we forget the TyTN... if I had to choose between P990 and M600 I would still prefer my trusty M600 and live without the wifi in a handset
so the P990 is definitly out the door when I get back!

the issue with the P990 is not stability as that can be addressed and SE have a good track record in that. The main problem I see is the lack of RAM. The P990 needs about another 5MB of RAM and also needs memory leaks to be sorted. I did choose the P990 over the TyTN as I prefer the form factor and ergonomics of the P990 (and I also think it has better quality music reproduction and the actual cellphone radio is better).
Like masseur I also really like the M600 but the only reason I don't use that much is the lack of a camera - I had a car accident recently and I only had my M600 with me...

yeah, the lack of camera has never been an issue for me as I always have either the TyTN, or a K800 (or both) or my newest toy, the 7megapixel Sony T30

@jah
but dont you think the memory issue might get solved when more updates are launched....
i have not used the tytn till now and dont know how good it is...the earlier reviews showed it to be much better....
once this becomes available in india or may be next year when i move to canada i am going to get one... |
