Pretorius, yer beauty! Eish, that was a nerve-racking final few minutes against the All Blacks...at least there's a bit more SA rugby pride restored with this match's outcome.

@Falcon786: That Sagem phone and more especially the DStv trial with DVB-H was discussed here some time back. Even though there's a big DVB-H mast atop my office block I could never get my grubby paws on that Sagem.

Speaking of TV functionality in phones, have you guys heard of Virgin's new Lobster 700? Interestingly, it uses DAB and not 3G for its 'piece de resistance' feature.

It will be available here later this month...being Virgin, I wonder if it's headed for SA shores as well:

http://www.carphonewarehouse.[....]ETAILS&manu=VIR&hand=LOB700VIR
http://www.coolsmartphone.com//news2523.html

Info from the above links:

The Virgin Mobile Lobster 700 TV mobile phone promises to revolutionise the way we watch television. Although 'mobile TV' has been around for a little while, the Lobster 700 TV is the UK's first mobile phone that will let you watch live TV and listen to digital radio from major broadcasters. It's all thanks to DAB-IP technology, which stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting - Internet Protocol. Instead of relying on 3G networks, this handset receives broadcast signals through its own aerial.
But the Virgin Mobile Lobster 700 TV isn't a one-trick pony. As well as being a television and radio receiver, it's also a smart phone that runs Windows Mobile 5.0 software. You'll have special versions of familiar Windows programs that'll synchronise with your PC, giving you email, internet browsing, instant messaging and a music player when you're on the move. And it's a camera phone, taking 1.3 megapixel photos and recording video clips.

The whole package is based on some impressive hardware, with a 2.2" colour screen, 128MB of storage, a memory expansion slot and Bluetooth connectivity. It's much more than just a telephone - in fact, in the words of Virgin Mobile, it's a "tellyphone"!

@ 786KBR,
That's a fantastic price for a W810i, particularly if they are unbranded, no question. I'm very encouraged to hear that a handset like that is going for such a competitive price in SA. With the current exchange rate, there would be no real benefit in anyone buying one here at the current price if they were hoping to pay less than in SA.
Your message posted from a 'K800iv'...pardon my ignorance, what does the 'v' refer to?

@ wanqa, the 'v' mystery. Could it be indication of the cursed mark of the vodafone?

Ah francois, I think you've sussed it.
So the Big Red One has even infiltrated the WAP-enabled phone recognition footprint now...

@786KBR: Expect to be answering a lot of questions from us. The other day I played around with a dummy K800iV while at Vodashop...don't know how different the dummy is from the production model but the joystick felt very suspect. Any difference from the much-maligned K750 joystick or do they both feel the same?

Hey guys. I convinced my girlfriend and her brother to get a k800 on their contract upgrades. All i can say is Wow! The phone is super fast, good sound, no software problems, the camera is fantastic & the build is top class. The web browser is also very impressive. Just to test the power of the k800 i ran 6 java applications, the music player, and the phones internet browser all at the same time. No lag at all. AMAZING for a so called dumbphone.

@Jits, that makes me positively green with envy since i know it's practically impossible for a Symbian phone to do that without giving "out-of-memory" messages. Well done,

That is darn impressive! 6 apps! I can do the music player and one app...but anyway, next phone....

So I decided to start video blogging weekly now. Should have my first video blog up soon, but trying to find some 3GP video editing software, since all is done on the phone so far, but there is one or two little problems concerning a song i mixed into the end of my first attempt, and i would like it to be there. Any tips & tricks you guys know with the SE video editor, and anyone know of 3GP video editing software?
