Hey, I'm an optimist
Think about it though... Sony has huge plans for cloud based gaming and 4k content. What's the best way to push such a thing when the vast bulk of the world doesn't have the network infrastructure to support it? Why it's simple! You provide the infrastructure, make $$$ from it, and also $$$ from the content! Bloody genius!
I dream of a day when Sony is the worlds first global ISP Or at the very least partners with Google to get this shit really going.
Much like the Sony Bank which is exclusive to Japan, the ISP is never gonna be expanded. At the most they will expand to Australia/New Zealand like they are doing with the bank or to SE Asia. Not coming to Europe and America. |

Optimism is one thing, but the cost of rolling out a fibre network is prohibitively expensive and there's very little income at the end of it. |

I asked few mates working in retailers about sales of Xperia Z and they say in the first 20 days of availability they sold so many devices but it's like 5 days that sales are terrible like 1/40 of the lunch. |

[OT] Sony to expand its retail footprint with store re-openings and Sony Gallery openings
Sony is getting ready to step up its retail footprint in an effort to sell more products and better compete with Apple and its highly successful retail presence. Sony has announced that it will be reopening three newly remodeled Sony Stores around the country. Sony also plans to open up new Sony Gallery experiences over the next several months.
Sony recently launched its Sony Store in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto California. Sony will be reopening the doors to three additional concept stores located in Miami, San Diego, and Orlando using the same style and experience offered in Palo Alto. Sony says that with its three remodeled stores reopening that it now has eight Sony Stores in the United States.
IT HAS BEGUN

Samsung under investigation for false advertising about HTC in Taiwan

Samsung is under investigation by Taiwanese authorities over allegations that it used deceptive advertising practices in the country, the AFP reports. The company reportedly hired students to write negative remarks online about HTC and to post promotional content for itself

Haha, this doesn't really surprise me. Korean companies are known to pay shills to post negative things about their competitor's products in forums and websites while writing only positive things about their own products. Hyundai and Kia are known to have shills in car enthusiast forums of other manufacturers to defend H/K's products while hating on other cars. This shouldn't come as a surprise when it's a state-sponsored practice in South Korea: read about VANK, which has 200,000 volunteers to praise South Korea to heavens while spamming the internet about how evil Japan is. |

Will there be update to add the ability to hide the on-screen buttons in the future
Because it makes the screen 4.7" as its not hidden most of the time

What do you need the rest of the screen anyway, other than when web browsing, watching videos/photos and gaming? On-screen buttons are the way to go and Sony showed what can be achieved with on-screen buttons with the ZL! |
