I have now tried out the X1 (My Boss wants one) I found the keyboard far to small to be of any use and, the unit in the shop refused to see my SE Bluetooth headset HBH 970.

The touch screen for some reason seemed not be be very accurate and I got a lot of incorrect inputs compared to my W960.

The panels were not quite as slow to load as I had expected, but they did hang when changing from portrait to landscape view which I did not like.

But it is nice and shiny and partly made of metal (I realised that metal is not a great medium for handset construction when my P1 was marked after one small drop) but I think he will still get one.

I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

I hate to say it, but you guys are right. I just sent back my X1 on a return policy. I'm going to try another phone. I can't deal with the X1 anymore...too much of a letdown

Back to p910 for now...

Turns out what others have said about this JUST being "another Windows Mobile Phone" in SE clothing turned out to be true... To think I never knew what it was that they meant until now, but after about a weeks worth of use under my belt with Windows Mobile, I get the feeling that what they REALLY meant is that this phone is just a highly polished turd... I can't wait for the N97 to come out so I can unload this pig on someone else...

The X1 is not even a WM device in SE clothing it is a WM device in HTC clothing with slightly odd software by

hi, I am from Singapore. Just got my X1 yesterday. Wooohoo!!! =D

Can anyone help pls .......

How do i send a text msg to MULTIPLE receipients??

Been trying to figure it out the whole day! =(

Greetings from a fellow Singaporean as well

Windows Mobile does not have a option to send SMS to a group. You will need to add each recipient to the message in the 'To:' field manually. When you send the message, each recipient becomes a seperate conversation.

THANKS, Bloob!!! =D

After a lot of reading, lot of studying and lot of hunting i bought myself a silver x1. Being a user of the SE phones as my previous phones were P800 - P900 - P910 -P990 - P1i and now the X1. Have been a dedicated user of SE. Being a first time user of the Windows Mobile it took me a while to get used to it. Its fine after 2-3 days of use. I found the following problems a big problem:

1) Cannot do group SMS as i have to select the contacts one after the other.
2) Ringtone volume is HORRIBLY LOW. If its in a pouch and in your pocket you will miss 4 out of 5 calls. The vibrator somehow does not do a great job.

I want to know if anyone has found a way to tweak up this volume. I must say its not even as good as the P1i, dont even think of comparing it with the N series. I agree its a business phone but that itself means you cant miss business calls. I tried AudioPara3_XC tweak but it did not work atall.

Just a word of caution to all potential buyers. The SPEAKER VOLUME IS VERY VERY LOW. Reminds me of the old Nokia 8310 ringer!

I thought the same when I first got my X1.

Not only did the volume seem low, but it seemed to have a mind of it's own. Maybe I kept accidentally pressing the volume buttons on the side?

Once I got everything under the control of profiles (using Photo Contacts Pro) the volume stayed really loud. The speakerphone, ringer, SMS tones and all.

One word of advice when using speakerphone: Do not block the port on the lower left side of the X1. This is the speaker port and it's very easy to inadvertently cover when handling the phone. Also, use the key lock when the X1 is not in use so things aren't being changed while the X1 is in your case or your pocket.

Even though I wish the speaker was still even louder, the X1 is actually the loudest phone I have owned.

1. I've been using my xperia for more than one month and I haven't been this happy in using smartphone. my previous phone: P800, P910, P990. with xperia, i fully utilise the phone.

2. as I've mentioned before Everyday I use xperia for email, ym, msn, voip and web browsing. the battery life is very good. Normally I will charge the phone at night before going to sleep and sometimes when I forgot to charge, the battery last for 11/2 to 2 days. I surf internet quite a lot before going to sleep as that is the time I read forums, blogs and others. yesterday I spent 3 hrs of browsing and the battery power that being used was 20%. I think its really good.

3. so far I have no complaint. the phone is fast and fun to use. I've recommended some of my friends and all of them love the phone. one of the best feature thet I like is the optical joypad.

Er... What's so good about the HD? Same OS as the Xperia.... Same interface (if you install TF3D on the Xperia)... without a keyboard. Only the screen which is 0.8 of an inch bigger...

Thanks for the heads-up on the LED, Dogmann. I read a little about hTorch and saw that you can change the brightness to max, but I couldn't figure out how. Unless it runs always at max. :/

The fact that the Panels where not as SE said they would be and were just basically shortcuts was a big disappointment to me and sort of made them pointless IMO.

Aw come on, they aren't "just basically shortcuts". Certainly they were a disappointment, how much of a disappointment I guess varies from person to person, but they aren't pointless and they aren't just shortcuts.

Actually I guess you aren't talking about all of the panels when you say that.... the thing is though, generalisations suck.

Absolutely, some of the panels - which shall remain nameless - are completely useless, isn't that right Mr. Windows Live panel? One of them isn't exactly compatible with other devices (yes you guessed correctly; I am referring to the media panel), one of them is no more than a one-minute novelty (the fish panel of course)... but the "Sony Ericsson Panel", the Spb panel and the Media panel (despite aforementioned compatibility flaw) are all quite good. The Facebook Panel is pretty good as well. So after a few months, there should be at least a couple more good panels, and in six to eight months time there should be plenty of great panels to choose from.

Still. I agree with you that they were a disappointment.

Xperia x1 is a great phone but the panels should work on how they are advertise. Working with it should be multi-tasking and can help you finish your task in less time. Well i'm only referring with the panels not the whole phone because the phone itself is fast and a nice phone to own.

I haven't seen anyone here who owns an X1 post about TF3D on it (or can't remember), so I might be the first on this forum - to share the Xperianceexperience at least. I have installed two versions, and hard (factory) reset after both of them.

Dogmann, and others: Installing TouchFlo3D on your Xperia X1 - while it does look very, very nice and TF3D itself is speedy - it completely cripples the rest of the phone. This is what I've experienced anyway; users on the XDA forum simply say it's "slow", without actually clarifying what is slow, but I suspect their situation is the same as mine. Also looking in that thread, you'll notice a couple of comments scattered through the pages that state that TouchFlo3D is slow on the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro as well, but owners of that phone don't know how fast the Xperia is. Whereas if you have an Xperia, use it for a day and then install TF3D, you know how slow it is.

If anyone is interested in the Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, or Touch HD, I would definitely try it out first-hand before committing to a buy, or otherwise making sure you can return it.

Edit:
Worth noting is that both times I installed TF3D as a panel. On the thread linked to above, many users who complained of slowness after installing TF3D noted that their problems disappeared or at least diminished. This is not the case for me; I installed the panel both times and still found huge slowdown.

Also worth noting is that I found no bugs with it (other than the slug-speed operation of the rest of the phone afterward), it worked flawlessly for me apart from that.

Oh wait, nah I did find one thing: it wouldn't recognise touch or the optical joystick when scrolling through some lists. I had to use the D-Pad.

A lot of people are complaining the X1 panels do not live up to expectation, tbh I don't know how people could have expected that the panels would replace or change the basic WinMo interface.

I love winmo, but do I use it as my primary mobile? No. I recognise that as a phone, WinMo is still not the best choice of OS. This will change, and indeed WM6.1 is STREETS ahead of the early PPC phones which quite honestly were crash monkeys that scored zero in mobile phone ergonomics.

Anyone doubt it just try an XDAii

I consider WM6 and later as actually finally being usable mobile phones, having fixed the glaring errors of early PPC phones. For those who wish to have the power and flexibility of Windows Mobile, the ergonomic shortfalls are now few enough that it can be considered a viable alternative compared to Symbian or A200.

I am VERY CLOSE to converting to winmo for daily use, however I am waiting to see what WM7 brings to the table in terms of finger interfacing and general ergonomics. For now I'm happy to keep my WM device in my backpack (saves me having to always carry the laptop) and use my W910 as my main mobile phone.

So for those who buy the X1 expecting the ergonomic brilliance of SE's A200 phones or the ease of use of S60, you are going to be disappointed.

NEWS ALERT: X1 IS A WINDOWS MOBILE BASED PHONE!!

SE cannot perform miracles, they can no more make the X1 into a WM powered A200 than they can turn one fish into a hundred. Maybe Jesus can help you but not SE.
