@francois: I won't get my hopes up too fast on 4G technology making it here anytime soon. Just reading between the lines it's probably going to be some proprietary technology which only Samsung and few others would be willing to use.
I'm excited about news of Neotel's immiment launch...hope they're better then Hellkom. Thinking of which, why can't they make local calls free after 8pm for a flat monthly fee...now that would be nice.

Jip, but as the article says, 2010 will be around about deployment, so yeah...
Local free calls? It is like throwing water on a witch, telkom being the witch...In the US local calls was free, so yeah, it is screwed up here...
With Neotel, I count on the biggest effect 4-6 months into 2007...should be good...

@ TeenInvader,
Don't you mean the D830, D840 or D870? Dunno about a D850 yet...can be confusing with all these Samsung model references...

Did a Google search for Neotel and couldn't find anything on our latest network...they do sound promising though...I hope they take off when their consumer services start. BTW, how will they connect to homes?
@TeenInvader: All the models Samsung are releasing are confusing the hell out of me. I mean, they're all basically the same: black. Either flip, slider or very occasionaly candybar. If Samsung brought out an ivory white phone I might be interested but all this black is too much of a muchness.

Hey guys, all this talk of Neotel even has my better half excited! She was browsing the thread and went to look up the info on Neotel, and she's hopping with excitement since she's one of those who'd gladly see Telkom getting the competition it so badly has needed! About flipping time too...

And just to confuse us more, Samsung announce 3 more handsets in the 'Ultra Edition' (flat phones?skinny cells?), this time all with 3G capability, namely the Z620, Z370 and Z720:

@da wanqsta: Seems like Samsung are trying to copy Nokia's strategy of flooding the market with as many phones that are so alike one would need a microscope to differentiate between the 40-odd models they've currently got out.

Well If samsung bring good high speed utra fones. I might start cheating on SE and mix it up with samsung. I heard that that D820 have edge.
I was just thinking about the P990 delays and the phone doesn't even have high speed connection??? |

@ da brixsta,
Yep, it's getting pretty darn difficult to be able to rattle off the differences between all these new Samsungs...a few millimetres here and there between a slider, candybar and clam, the rest is a mix of what's already out, spec-wise, in the existing Samsung range.
@ TI,
I also find it hard to understand why SE omitted EDGE off the P990i (where's mario now...), even though it's got WiFi, 3G etc., most people would expect all these features from a modern all-singing, all-dancing flagship smartphone. The K800i also lacks EDGE, yet the W810i has... what's with that, SE?
BTW, you're right, the D820 does have EDGE.
