Q provides Bond with this very handy mobile phone. Firstly, the phone featured a scanner that could be used to read fingerprints. Bond uses this handy feature when he breaks into Henry Gupta’s safe in Hamburg. Secondly, perhaps the most interesting feature is the ability to control Bond’s BMW 750iL from the phone! Bond uses this feature to great effect during the car chase in a multi-storey car park.
The third feature of the Ericsson phone was the ability to pick locks. Bond uses this feature when he breaks into a secret top floor of Carvers HQ in Hamburg. The final feature of the phone was its ability to produce an electric shock of 2,000 volts. Bond uses this to short circuit the lock into Gupter’s office and to disable Dr. Kaufman later in Bond’s hotel suite.

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: February 1, 2006
STOCKHOLM, Jan. 31 — Fourth-quarter earnings at Ericsson, the Swedish maker of wireless telecommunications equipment, soared 52 percent, lifted by increased sales in North America and strong growth in services.
The company, based in Stockholm, reported a net profit for the quarter of 8.5 billion kronor ($1.13 billion) Tuesday, up from 5.6 billion kronor a year earlier. Sales rose 16 percent, to 45.7 billion kronor ($6 billion).
For the year, Ericsson reported net profit of 24.3 billion kronor ($3.18 billion) and sales of 151.8 billion ($19.88 billion), up 15 percent. Ericsson is the world's largest supplier of wireless network equipment.
Ericsson's closely watched gross margin for the quarter dropped, however, to 44.2 percent, from 45.6 percent a year earlier.
Ericsson's revenue growth was driven by an 82 percent rise in North American sales. Ericsson's major competitors Nokia, Motorola and Lucent all have reported declining sales for telecommunications equipment when measured in local currency.
