Ok, the movie I transfered over to the memory card showed up in the My Media Panel after I soft reset the phone, still learning Win Mob.... The music player in the Media Panel on the other hand is just broken by the way... The stuff I talked about it doing, it does ALL of the time, not just when it's hooked up to my car deck through bluetooth. I hadn't noticed it until now, because I mostly use it in conjunction with my car deck. It's definitely a broken beta piece of software, so buyers should definitely beware if they're planning on buying this thing to replace another phone that serves this function, or plan on using this thing exclusively as their MP3 player.... When does SE plan on giving us a software update for this thing btw?...

I also think the media player has its flaws. Theres no equalizer and you cannot skip songs using bluetooth. When I play music, I use its Windows Media Player using another software to create playlist. It did not provide equalizer too, but sound quality is good enough for X1. Good thing is that I can skip songs and adjust volume using my bluetooth headset ^^

This is what I have reported to X1 support last month...

Media Xperiance Panel - only A2DP support, no AVRCP support, music stops playing when you leave the panel for another panel, music continues to play when you move to another application via Start menu

Media Player - A2DP support, limited AVRCP support (play/stop, previous/next track, volum up/down), no track information displayed

Bluetooth - does not accurately show all the services available in the connected device, stops/skips when phone switches between 2G/3G/HSPA, general performance issues during audio playback 96kbps and above.

BUT despite these issues, the sound quality from X1 is very very good.

Ok, glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing all of these problems with the Media Panel! I was starting to get worried that it was just me. Sure the sound is good, but it's not THAT good to have to deal with all of this bullshit. I wish I had waited a little longer to buy this thing at Best Buy so I could return it for a full refund, because as it now stands the more I use it the more I want to return it. Also, this phone has locked up on me HARD about 3 times so far in about 5 days of use (and while doing nothing special or taxing at that), and SO hard that I had to remove the battery each time, which wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't have to struggle sooo hard to remove the damn battery cover tbw. I think my phone is the only phone produced out of the whole production line that the customer doesn't have to worry about their battery cover accidentally popping off like other users have mentioned theirs doing on their X1's...

@ bloob, actually you want the panel to keep playing music in the background when you use the "start menu". It's the only way to multi task with media player still functioning in the back ground! Like I mentioned in my previous post when you close the panel the music stops so you can't do it that way (like you could with say any of SE's dumb Walkman phones), which is a problem. I rely on my phone as my MP3 player (in this case the X1 now) and use it with my car deck to wirelessly play music over my car's speakers. I also don't own a dedicated GPS, and subsequently like to use my phone for that too. With my old trusty N95 8GB I would just play music over my car stereo while using the phone and it's GPS feature to find my way with Google maps. While driving around I still want to listen to tunes, but also rely on my phone to give me directions. So, you NEED the music to keep playing when you hit the "start menu", or else you wouldn't otherwise be able to multi-task with your phone while listening to your music in the background. Are you having any luck getting the media panel to recognize or find the playlist that you created on your computer and transfered to your phone btw?... The WMP on the phone sees them and plays them, however the Media Panel just won't... I'm so aggravated.....

Oh, and by the way, I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I think I actually miss my old Nokia's number pad! It was so much easier to drive and push buttons by feel to zoom in, zoom out, and move forwards and backwards in Google maps. I also miss what I once thought to be redundant and gimmicky slide out media buttons on my N95. There's something to be said about having the ability to change tracks while using google maps without having to worry about minimizing apps with the X1's tiny corner app manager and operating a motor vehicle (since it's now become apparent that this phone lacks Bluetooth AVRCP support).

I also hate the bezel around the recessed screen which makes it almost impossible to move WM's itsy bitsy slider on the side of navigation menus with your finger... Battery life btw so far has been pretty atrocious on my phone. I've been charging it about twice a day with the same amount of use I used to get out of my N95 on T-mobile USA's all GSM and Edge only network (I've NEVER used 3G service with either phone!)! Good thing I got car charger for this thing. I hope this all helps out any potential buyers still on the fence about this particular phone.

On no, I'm saying that playing in the background while running another application via the Start menu is GOOD. But why should the music stop when we switch to another Panel?

That quite defeats the purpose and usefulness of the Media Xperiance Panel

But doesn't it seem LOGICAL that if you EXIT the panel, apps are closed??
In reverse - starting apps from the menu gives multitasking.
Isn't it needed??

Hello everyone,

Is there anyway to make the internet connection 'timeout'?

With my P1i, I used to have my emails scheduled to be checked every hour. On the hour, it would connect to my O2 GPRS and download the emails, and then disconnect from GPRS. The same applied when I was sending an email, it would disconnect automatically after about 15-20 seconds (like it does when receiving an MMS).

However, on my X1 is just stays connected. I've tried leaving it, but it was still connected an hour later. Is there anyway to add these sort of time out or auto disconnection settings?

Thanks

Andy

The "Active panels" feature doesn't seem to be fully implemented. I would call the X-panel screen, a "desktop selector".

Walmart to start selling iPhones!

Apple is going to saturate the smartphone market with this deal. They might as well give iPhones away free in every box of cereal.

I second that. With my old Nokia N95 8GB it would only access my phone's data connection (edge on tmob in the US) when it needed too (for IMAP4 email pushing) and then shut off the connection when done. I now think this is mostly why my battery life is in the toilet, and more a Windows Mobile 6.1 problem than a SE Xperia X1 designed thing. Winmob obviously has piss poor data connection management software... Who wants to sit around and babysit their phone, turning off the data connection after every email download?... I think I'm going to change my email preferences to every 4 hours, or maybe I'll just manually update when I need to or want to check my email so I can kill the connection afterwards? Also did you notice that you can't designate at what hours it checks your email?!? I thought this was a professional pocket PC? Why CAN'T I schedule the hours that I want it to retrieve my email again?.... I could easily do that on my Nokia, and never had to worry about THAT phone waking me up in the middle of the night with a new email notification. Talk about INCONVENIENT, At this rate the N97 can't come out soon enough IMHO!...
