with the G series they are just trying to get the most of the old hardware that are left from the old UIQ3 devices |

They could have left the old hardware for lower end phones and put both HSDPA and Wifi on the G900. Problem is that the Xperia might be too expensive for me, even though its exactly what I want. |

Man, that guy (SE's Steve Jobs) is awesome. People were obviously a bit sceptical of what SE had released, but he just kept making jokes and didn't crack at all. Awesome.

It's interesting how Sony Ericsson's Xperia Renderings online are different than the ones in Barcelona. In the question section of the conference, "Steve Jobs" has answered many questions, including the one about user interface. Sony Ericsson wants this X1 to deliver a user interface unique to Sony Ericsson. I have a feeling (and I'm being hopeful) that the X1 will loose it's Windows UI and have a panel UI instead, as illustrated in SE's Renderings.

Here are the REAL calculations.
The area the esato watermark covers, says "N95 8GB".
Any questions?
your calc is correct!!.
mine was in error as I mistakenly punched 420 pixel for the width of X1.
What I say is still correct in a sense. If you see/watch a 4:3 aspect ratio photo/video then the viewing size is still bigger on the N95-8G.

Hi guys.
Are there any good examples of those type of sliders that actually succeeded in the market. I can't recall any.
The HTC Wizard, HTC Magician (both sold under various other names), HTC Tytn, HTC Tytn II... all WinMo phones with a similar form factor, and all very successful (out in the non-SE world).
Maybe this one could be it?
It's not a "WOW" though.. frankly speaking.
If you compare the size of this with any of those other phones I've mentioned, then you can see the WOW immediately. It's a very good size for a full Windows Mobile Professional device with keyboard. On top of that you've got a very high quality screen, and a promise of high performance on video etc - making it a class-leading device. If they get this out in the middle of next quarter, it will be *the* Windows phone to have, I reckon.
The HTC series? really? I barely see anyone using that phone..in HK, that is..I'm not sure how it is on the other side. I remember playing with it and it was awfully slow..and they tend to be very thick.
You're right though I took a look at the Hands-on video on Gizmodo and the size is impressive.
One thing though, I'm curious do most right handers here use their left hand to operate or pick up phones. I know some ppl use their right anyways but I think most use their left?
If so those arched slide scroll icons are a hassle for right handers unless you slide your thumb down in the center only.

It's interesting how you wrote the X1. SE X1 --> SEX1 --> SEXI --> SEXY.
