Nah, the P1i is much nicer. Just carry an mp3 player around with you or buy an 8gig memory card! |

Just because you got one, that doesn't mean P1 is NICER than w960 |

I'm not just saying that because I've got one, I wouldn't be so shallow. I genuinely think the P1i is a better phone. They're so similar but the 960 drops some great features of the P1i such as the keypad & today screen. |

Funny, cuz the lack of the qwerty is one of the main reasons I'm waiting for the W960 instead of getting the P1i now. The improved touchscreen and the 8GB are only secondary (I actually would prefer the M2 slot over the 8GB built in... but the standard numeric keypad is what I'm after with the W960)

The QWERTY keypad on the P1i is great! I can text so fast now it's amazing. I would find an old-style phone keypad such a backwards step now. |

In my opinion the W960 is still better due to the fact that you can still type using the stylus and it has a "normal" keyboard. Although thats only because I want the possibility to play games on my phone, otherwise I'd go for the P1.

I could not careless for a QWERTY keyboard, i havent used the M600/P1i kind of QWERTY but i hav used P910, E61 and E70 types of QWERTYs and i liked them all but not for everyday,i love multi-tap and writing with the stylus on P910, and after seeing those live pics of W960 and its keyboard i knew i had to have it, looks comfortable and easy to use like my W900 and Nokia N80 keypads. Another thing is the Today screen,im 17 turning 18 years old in about 5months, im finishing highschool end of next year (this is the average age of finishng school in South Africa) and going to University only in 2009 February, i REALY dont need a Today screen, all i need is sum of my appz to be shown in stand by screen, a Walkman, OS, good camera, a nice big touchscreen, normal keypad, great looking , stylish lite phone and OMG the W960 fits and has all of that,and im sure theres A Lot of people who want the same.

Just a question, can the P1i qwerty still use multi-tap/T9 as well? Multi-tap is easier to use with one hand and when you're not looking at the phone. If the P1i still has the option to switch off the qwerty and just enable the numeric keypad?

Just ordered my p1i. Was really really tempted by the w960i but after using the m600i i dont think i could live without the keypad.
I will probably assess the situation again once the w960i is available. |

hey jimster... still wondering what your position is at SE
also wondering if your employment there lends you any insight as to when the W960 will enter production, or what's left to be done on the unit before that happens?
I work in a testing/development type role at the moment. I don't have any insight into when things will be officially released and if I did I wouldn't be allowed to say anything until it was officially announced. |

I've seen pictures of the W960 with a today screen. Where have U heard that there's no today screen? |

The question was asked, and Jimster71, who has actually had the phone in hand (and still has, i believe), confirmed that there is no Today screen (or drop-down list) like on the P1.
Too bad, the W950 had it, wonder why they dumped that feature, quite useful IMO (and surely more useful than seeing a song name if your Walkman isn't playing anyway...) |

@Jimster71
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but does the screen scratch easy being that its not sunken in any way. It looks really smooth and I can imagine it being in the pocket with coins etc and getting scratched.
Also would I be right in thinking that any screen protector would have to cover from the top of the phone down to the touch keys above the keypad?
