Just got really excited when I turned to my phone this morning and saw the symbol in the notification saying there's a software update.
Rushed to the PC and plugged in to update.
The update downloaded.
The update installed!
Rebooted the phone...
R2BA026 from R2BA020 what a load of balls.

Do you mean you took off the factory fitted SE protector? If so I might take the plunge and take it off. I did manage to scratch the original protector and, whilst my current protector has no scratches, I have a speck or two of dust underneath which really rile me and in reflections you can see the uneven thickness of the plastic as well as a very slight discoloration in the reflections.
yes, i took off the factory fitted one...

@caff111 my original protector wasn't hard to take off. I didn't test the responsiveness though I installed a new one as soon as I took the original one off. I'm going to take off the second one when I upgrade to 2.1 so I can feel like I have a completely new phone.

Not today hydro, but they've decided to tease a few of us with an incremental update.
@Hobbs I reckon it must have been left overs from the previous update batch that got stuck in the system and pushed through when they started uploading the 2.1 updates. To me that means that 2.1 is probably going onto the various servers around the world as we speak and just waiting for Monday/Tuesday morning (or whenever they've uploaded) so someone can press the giant green 'Go live!' button (which currently has one of those enticing 'Do not push' stickers on it and is under a clear plastic case to which the key to the lock to open it is owned by an ogre with an HTC).

Bad news guys, a liable swedish source with friend at SE write's the following ( in swedish)
Trista besked dock
google Translate:
I've just met people with "transparency" and the information was as follows.
2.1 in Q3 (still having problems getting it to float on)
2.1x (or late Q410 Q12011)
2.2 - 'no' apparently 'are still discussing if even if you must spend time froyo to X10
The worst I got up was to X10an not even have hardware support for Gingerbread. As the hardware that does not support this, we discussed not.
This should be taken with a grain of salt but it follows the line of the document that the SE will not invest in FroYo at all on this hardware platform.
I got more details but promised not to redistribute it and is obviously my word.

"transparency" should be "inside information"
"2.2 - 'no' apparently 'are still discussing if even if you must spend time froyo to X10" --->discussing If they should spend time on froyo.
Also this is from a real SE-fanboy with good friends so its probably true... |

I don't want to overreact, but if the above is true it's tantamount to a death knell for SE.
They'll probably release an X11 next year, but still it's not really acceptable in this day and age. |

Well, if this is true SE are really leaving their customers who have paid through the nose to get the X10 high and dry.
I'm sure the news will go down really well with their X10 customers.

SE is so full of themselves. Look at them, taking too long at releasing an update that is already outdated before it comes out while having not a hint of embarassment but making a hype of it and coining "something smarter is coming" when they should just quietly and quickly release it and concentrate on 2.2. And the update, after such shameless campaign, offers only little more than what we have now. It's really twisted that they still think they're on top of the game but are actually clueless as to what their customers want and the amount of competition they have to deal with out there. Well, I've been with SE far too long to have hoped for a 2.2 update anyway, if anything I've learnt that with SE, hope ends up with disappointment. They will never do what they never mention to do and give you anything extra than what they tell you. Maybe X10 is a good platform for me to jump ship to HTC after staying too long with Ericsson/SE. Yes, I'm sure it is.
