Does anybody knows, where can I buy middle part of XPERIA's covers? It is the place, where I have crack near the stylus holder. I saw diassembling video and I know this is easy, so I will repair it on my own. Don't have time to sending it to UK, waiting several weeks for repair and for sending it home

my point is that the defect rate for the x1 is well within any reasonable limits. i am quite frankly stunned by just how few faulty units there seem to be. And those unlucky few have been able to replace their units with the minimum of fuss.
SE/HTC have done really well - and thats coming from one of the few users who has the misfortune owning a unit with a few minor aesthetic defects.
.
Yeah. We hear from the dozen of people who complain, but we don't hear from the thousands who have no problem with thirs phones.
.
I will reprazent the thousands then. Only real thing I actually needed was the bluetooth fix script... which I hear may be addressed in future updates. Makes this a pretty bloody awesome phone in my eyes!

My last phone was P990. I still remember the agony when I got it. The release of X1 is on another planet.....

Download and use the program XperiaTweaks (www.cliffords.nu) program, it has many features including one to display/hide SIM contacts.

Chris
XperiaTweak is nice but I think I'm going to drop it for Advanced Configuration tool. More options. |

I do love my music, and I have spent ridiculous amounts of money on certain items. I blame the working in a Hi-Fi shop many moons ago. Once you hear good hi-fi, you just can't go back, lol. I'm constantly going up and up. Earphones and headphones are a must.
Anyway I currently use Shure E4C, and they are great, but I'm due an upgrade, and I too have been looking at and comparing a shortlist that includes the Shure SE530, Shure SE420, Etymotic ER4P, Sennheiser IE8. I've discounted the Ultimate Ears super.fi 5Pro, based purely on practicality(they stick quite far out of your ears).
Additionally, don't use Windows Media Player for anything other than burning .wma files. The encoder used within the player for mp3's is an extremely old version of Lame (probably to make wma sound comparably better). I will be making my informed decision on Friday, so will let you know if I settle with the Shure SE530's, and give my humble opinion .
BTW cheapest site for headphones (inc. Shure) is http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk

just tested a demo unit of x1a @ futuretronics in the houston galleria. the phone is smaller than i imagined. it's also pretty fast, especially when changing to landscape mode. there was no real lag at all when accessing the panels. the only panel that took like 4 secs to boot was the fish panel. other than that, the phone rocks!!!! another annoyance is that no memory card was included!!! the salesman, looked and looked but couldn't find one in the box. also, the price is NOT $799 like was being said. it's actually $899!!! what else, oh, the bond trailer looked awesome on the screen. the screen looks better than the iphone IMHO. so, now i'm pondering whether to dish out $900 for the phone or wait. i definitely can afford the phone, but no memory card: what da hell? i'll prolly wait til the sonysytle store gets the phone next week cuz i believe they offer accidental insurance on the phone. well, if i get one next week, i'll post my review. |

I'm looking at the Westone 3, the Klipsch Custom 3 and the Denon 751... all are IEMs. Any good sources for these?
By the way, the X1 audio sound quality totally blows away the iPod. |

Hi Masseur,
The european version will not work in Canada, USA the rest of the Americas and Autralia because the UMTS radio bands are not the same.
I'm an Aussie. I got mine from the UK. It works fine.

@prom1, in Australia, we don't have many disparate providers as in the states - All providers offer their services in all states. In terms of coverage - the NextG network has greater coverage mainly due to the greater range of the lower frequency, there aren't actually more NextG towers than umts 2100 towers. From what I undertand all Next G towers support standard (2100) 3G for fallback.
It's a little different in the States and Canada, where somoe operators don't even field a service at all in certain areas.
I think masseur understands quite well the Aus network layout. We can't really lump Aus in with Canada or the States though. As you say, over your way there are 1900 towers that don't support 3G at all and some that do. So it's quite likely that some people have successfully used the European X1 in certain areas but not others. This may be what contributes to the confusion. (as pinguino pointed out, even though it's not marketed as such, the US destined X1 is an X1a, with UMTS 850)
In Australia the European X1 will work for all operators 3G, but for Telstra it will only be able to access 3G services on the UMTS 2100 fallback - so it won't benefit from the increased range of the umts 850 Next G network.
On the other hand the X1a will operate on the Next G service, as well as the other 3G networks. BUT, if the initial rumours are true, it means Aussie X1 fans will have to choose between better video recording performance and access to the next g network. Bugger!
He is absolutely correct. Mine works fine on Three. I can get HSDPA, HSUPA, 3G and EDGE all on Three. |

Really? I used to rip/burn mp3's using WMP and yeah I just realised, the sound quality wasn't good somehow. Um, does syncing music onto xperia using the Windows Media Player affect sound quality? Shouldn't be right, you just mean that burning mp3's using WMP is a no no, right? Hehe sorry abit confused.
I'm thinking of getting JBL 410 Headphones, tried it out, the bass sounds goood. Have you tried? |

Is the crack issue really a big issue or is it just the lack of care from the user? |

If the extra 128 video RAM is true then why didn't SE include it in the specs? logically It's a marketing advantage to advertise such big feature! It's obvious that it's a false info. |

Hi Bloob,
If you haven't already researched or seen have a look at these reviews, and compare them against the earphones you're interested in. I've had a quick listening test with the Klipsch, and the clarity is excellent, but they weren't as good as my current current Shure E4C's. Very close and the sound is admittedly cleaner, but that is also there downfail, serious lack of bass depth. Don't get me wrong, doubt you'll be disappointed. For reviews I start with cnet.co.uk, but also read user reviews, because I'm extremely thorough when it comes to these things. I unashamedly spend weeks gathering info and opinions before I test my top 5.

for Klipsch & Westone 3, cheapest I've seen (£149 for Custom 3)

I've never been one to jump on the ipod band wagon, as I've achieved better sound with inferior players, based on headphones alone. I don't see the point in carrying around many different devices, when one will do. I still have a SE W800 walkman phone, and I compared that with my headphones to my friends ipod, and yes it sounded better . However the ipod also sounded better with my earphones, as the ones supplied with all players, is well insultingly rubbish.
Hope this helps,
