Mine does. No cracks, but the slider is whobbly and the battery cover comes off frequently.
If it gets worse I will see if I can get my unit replaced.
(Silver version btw)
What a shocking indictment for a device, that is most likely not much more than 6 WEEKS old!
X1 owners have already moved on from talking about how great it is, to talking about what does not work and to what extent each others very expensive toy has fallen apart.
What the hell is the matter with surely even they must realise this situation can only lead to one place!
I have been complaining about Sony Ericsson build quality since the days of the P910 and they seem to have learned NOTHING.
I used to really like Sony Ericsson products, but now? I am just cynical, suspicious and disappointed.
Roll on the Tube!
1. I think, it is wrong to judge a product from a small number of complains. Judging from the comments, the greats are much more than the complains.... which is common.
2. If you want to judge, try to get a defect ratio from the company. For sony products ( I don't know about sony ericsson), normally the policy is to have a defect ratio less than 3%.... which is very low. And you will surprise to hear the highest number of defect is `no-defect' problem which comes from customers with `know-how' problem.
3. It is not wise to judge a product from small number of complaints.
Lets just wait and see which of us is right! I have been a Sony Ericsson owner long enough to know the warning signs!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I am happy for anyone who has an X1 and is happy with it but surely is that not what everyone should expect when you consider how much are charging for it?
I work very hard for my money as I am sure most others here do as well.
So I am NOT prepared to invest any more of it on the word of Sony Ericssons marketing department guess what they LIE!!
so yes I will highlight any failure, after all we don't kneed to know what is good (that is what we paid for) to make a buying decision only what is BAD to avoid wasting our money, trust me Sony Ericsson will NOT be queuing up to refund those who have faulty units 6 or 12 months down the line.
we were promised that this would be a premium device at a premium price and I for one DO NOT consider a device were multiple units are experiencing build failures this early into ownership!

It looks like it's inside the hole where the lanyard attaches. |

I'd be confident they considered that and determined that there is still enough air gap.

Indeed, the microphone is not in the lanyard hole:

It is indeed the small hole beneath the OK button.

It's funny how no one mentions HTC when complaining about build quality.
To be fair, the exterior design is the one thing that was always unquestionably SE - complete with those cracked and peeling "premium materials"!
The internal hardware and much of the software design is very HTC, and I think it's fair to say it hasn't been quite the revolution anyone was hoping for - it's just another Qualcomm-powered WinMo phone in an SE case.

1. I think the internal hardware is not designed by HTC. The hardware are designed by their respective company...e.g, the ram might come from samsung, the xtal oscillator from a different vendor, the capacitor chip, resistor chip, leds, ferrite chip, DSPs and in fact, the PWB is produced by different company.
2. I think, you can say that the phone is assembled by HTC which used the HTC assembly factory. |

Harrroooo! I finally got my hands on my xperia hehe. Mann, applying the screen protector was tough.. the dust makes it difficult huhu.
anyway i got few questions
How do you hide the SIM contacts?
How do you change the message tone to your own custom tones? I don't see my ringtone that I transferred to Windows/Rings. I can only change the ringtone, not the message tone :S
And finally, since the media player doesn't include an equalizer, what's the best headphones for this? I want in-ear headphones that provides MAXIMUM BASS heheheh. I got the Creative EP-630 though, the bass wasn't good enough for me without the equalizer :S
hehe thanks in advance, whoever replies, you're the best! |
