I use the AN300 car charger by itself and managed to charge it from 70 to 90% while navigating on a 1.5 hour trip. Have a look at the charger's output. The AN300 has the same output as the wall charger, 700mA.
@mode, mange69 and xell, thanks for your comments.
I'm not using the AN300 car charger... mine's a generic USB one which only outputs 500mA, which might explain the battery draining. I guess it might also explain why the phone gets hot (although I don't understand why), but in any case I'll invest in a AN300 and see what happens... |

My car phone holder from Brodit, made for X10, came with a 1A charger and still the batt drains when using GPS for several hours.
I think the phone SW is set to just receive a certain amount of charging.

I'am using the same phone and Brodit Phone holder charger that I fitted my self the one with the wires behind the dash not using the cigarette lighter socket, you? I have used the google navigation and from what I cam remember was ok, but I did not use it for hours, I use it for more short journeys and use my tomtom for the longer journey due to Google Navigation not having your speed, road speeds and camreas, I will be doing a 4hr(London to Liverpool) jouney in 2 weeks will have tomtom and X10 Google Navigation on at the same time to see if this happens, But then I hope to have Android 2.1 by then and all things could change

I was hoping to eventually buy a satnav app (I'm favouring Co-Pilot at the moment) for my X10, but I thought I'd just test out the whole concept of using the phone as a satnav with Google Navigation before spending money on the app.
Given the problems so far I'm glad I haven't payed for a dedicated app! I ordered the SE AN300 car charger today so I'll try that out when it arrives to see if I get the same problem.
Interestingly, a search on Google reveals quite a few people with other Android phones who have also had overheating / shutdown / battery drain issues when using Google Nav. I guess it could be an issue with Google Navigation, in which case a dedicated app might be the solution...

@t0m
I can really recommend Navigon app. It flows much smoother than the others. Otherwise Co-pilot is a good choise. Try out Navigon for free 30 days. Download it from Market. I bought it for approx 40€.

I use for Ndrive for GPS on my X10 and it's pretty good. No problems and very accurate.

That looks pretty cool. I hope they don't use that bottom bar in the final version though. It looks so bulky compared to the discrete bar we have at the minute.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

^^ Pretty cool... looks like a First glimpse of some finality in the 2.1 software.... however timescape and mediascape appear to look the same... hopefully the xperience of using them would be "Smarter and richer" as have promised!

one thing i was hoping they would improve on is the swiping action when browsing the "more" categories in mediascape. There is a delay between the swiping motion with your finger and the actual change in the screen. I was hoping it would get fixed and become instant or at least as fast as the home screen swipes.

@Moogoo I agree with you on that delay in Mediascape.Thats why unfortunitely I dont use it much anymore until hopefully 2.1 speeds up that transition.I use JustPictures for my photo viewing and Meridian and Zimli for my Music.
Ok lets check out this 2.1 video then.

That's what I was worried about since the beginning...
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand... Mediar's Site |

2.1 on the x10 looks good, nice and slick, a real shame if they change the slider, the curve is so nice to unlock.
I really hope this update brings the X10 back to the real world. SE really dropped the ball on this, releasing with 1.6 and taking an eternity to release 2.1. Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone, but with 1.6 it's lacking so much potential. |
