no build issues on mine after 3 weeks - silver uk o2 (reflashed to generic uk)
no paint coming off
no cracks and i use the stylus all the time
screen is straight.

signal strength is about the same as my w760 and p990 - i can vouch for that accurately as there is a point in my house where 3g would go to 1 bar and sometimes switch to GSM and all three phones do it.

battery cover was a little loose, if I dropped it on my desk it would ping off, but i bent the two little tags on the battery cover and its fine now

@Santa_Claus

I'm aware of that link you posted but in my opinion they seem to be regurgitating "facts" from elsewhere. Apart from the SE video a while back (which was a gaff IMHO) there has been no statement saying anything about this mystical invisible extra RAM - its just been spread around the Internet so much people are stating it as fact.

If i were to grace a phone with the biggest Graphics RAM for a portable device i would maybe slip that fact into the white-paper - wouldn't you?

It is true that you say. Why it is not in the white paper. I donno.

However, I can confirm that the video processor has 128 MB RAM memory on disposal that is not shared with any other application. 256MB RAM are on disposal to the entire Win Mob system.

My friends from SE are reassuring me that 128 RAM for graphic chip is true. They are engineers so they know better than me. I trust them.

^^^ So the next question would be...

When are we going to see software utilizing this huge amount of RAM ? It certainly isn't being used by the panels. Nor is any WinMo software designed to take advantage of it.

Anyone else find that the right edge of screen is sharp? as in the top of the slider. On mine the metal doesn't match up with the plastic edge which has the lights on.

Also when closed does the left side of the phone flex down a bit when you're using it?

Mine does. No cracks, but the slider is whobbly and the battery cover comes off frequently.

If it gets worse I will see if I can get my unit replaced.

(Silver version btw)

If it does get worse, you will be able to get it replaced with the XPERIA product service.

Dedicated video memory or VRAM is an old technology, from the times when the RAM had limited access speeds and limited access ports to read/write data at the same time that GPU was accessing the video frame.

Not anymore, current RAM doesn't have those limitations and RAM memory can be shared with the the video frames.

Furthermore if, and only if, the Xperia have a dedicated video memory then it is not RAM it is VRAM.

How come the Xperia need such a huge amount of video memory?.
The main video frame only needs 768000 bytes for 65536 colors. Even if they keep room for an eventual 32bit Color palette still the total video frame memory would be only1.5 MB

If we count the mask frames, BLITs frames and effects frames for 2D and 3D The Xperia wouldn't need no more than 16MB worst case 32 MB. (desktop size displays work perfectly on 32MB)

All that means that there is a chunck of at least 96MB of RAM wasted. No, in a mobile device they don't waste one byte or one mm.

If this info is not in the Latest White Paper after that moron's gaff then there is no 384 RAM

You can ask your friends at SE "why it is not on the specs. Is it a secret?"
