What's the big deal with Vodaworld apart from having all these shops specialising in communications under one roof?

LOTS OF NEW 3G phones will be available in April,Vodafone LIVE will be launched. Before the end of this year Vodacom 3G coverage will be almost every where and any where then HSDPA will be available.Vodacom will try and cover any town and city this year.Vodacom will roll out 3G coverage faster than it 2G network becuase 3G masts are only 1 meter high.No enviromental impact assesment is needed for 3G,so this will save alot of time ..........MTN will start 3G next year........JUST TEASING.Why is MTN is so quite on 3G and EDGE.I think MTN is quite on 3G because they don't have the content like VODAFONE LIVE.Content is the main driver for 3G.Would some one from MTN please speak up or is MTN just having a YELLO day.

LOL... For the first time I think I agree with you...content will drive the non-business sector of the 3G market...MTN knows this that's why they launched MTNloaded last year...the thing is, not many people have used it even though it was heavily marketed. Would you pay R50 for an S60 java game that you could get for free by simply searching Google? No, neither would the rest of us. MTN realised this that's why it would be cool when they launch 3G after June(?) to have exclusive content.

3g will be content driven, but then the content should be reasonably priced. MTN charging R5 for a ring tone, and 50 bucks for solitaire, and then you are not happy with the game, R50 thrown away. You shouldn't really say content driven, but rather FREE CONTEND DRIVEN....

@ Brix25 No one from MTN is posting stuff here because they all know they GPRS rates are so HIGH.Two big differences between Vodacom and MTN are Vodafone live has free browsing, when you download content from Vodafone live you don't pay for download. You only pay for what you buy.MTN charges you for the game and the download.Lots of companies are buying Voda 3G because you can have your live conferrence streamed to your projector.Companies can stay in there regional officers and watch what the boss is saying.

Rick700 is on MTN and he hardly ever posts here or anywhere else for that matter...it's too damn expensive. But please guys for all their faults no-one should underestimate Y'ello. Last year they caught every1 off guard by offering free GPRS. My guess is they'll surprise us again especially with number portability around the corner.

Number portability will be around in NOV 05 and all telecom networks will have it @ the same time. When this happens we might have a price war.Comming back to price, since i am a Vodacom dealer i quoted a few customers on blackberry and Moto E1000 and these customers told me we have the same price as Vodafone UK.When Vodacom buys phones after the Vodafone alliance they buy them through Vodafones account because Vodafone has a global buying power Vodacom will never beaten. You do your own check.Visit any Vodashop ask them on a price on a middle to high end phone and visit MTN and you will see MTN will be more in price.Just wait for the Vodafone live handsets to come and you will see fire works

Prices vary from place to place... I'd be honest and say that I'll never buy a phone from a Vodashop...they're too damn expensive and the thing about 3G handset prices being that same as the UK is a bit out of context...many people buy them on contract with the handset heavily subsidised. Rather
Compare the local price of say a K700i with that in the UK and you'll see we're being ripped off... But Tahir will somehow justify paying R2800 for the handset.
