Imagine: after a few beers in a pub, you finish writing an SMS, and you forget that S700i is NOT a clamshell phone...
Doooh, wished they had used a 3D-360 degree swiveling mechanism!!
That was one of my first thoughts when I hold the S700i in my hands lol

Just a quick question for those in the know......
Seeing as how the S700 has a memory stick, is it possible to , like a digi-cam , take several pictures, and then take the memory stick to a film developer, and have the pics printed out ?
Im asking cos im going to Thailand later in the year, and Id rather not buy a camera as well as this phone.
Thanks in advance people. |

Rog,
I have a question about the S700. I was wondering can the camera be used to take pictures with the keypad open? I was wondering because it would be a nunisance if it could'nt, for example if you were to take a picture, you would then have to open the keypad to type in a MMS adresss, than close it to take another, than open it to send to another adress etc.

I remember seeing a post where someone showed a pic of the S700 stating the phone has to have the swivel closed in order for you to take pics. |

That sucks. That's a terrible move on SE's part and I hope they fix it for the final firmware. Any way to let them know this? |

Why ? What would anyone gain by making photos in open mode ?

I pretty sure that you can take a pic and send it to someone with the phone still closed. Granted you have to have your phone book/addresses already stored in the phone, but more often than not it's more than possible to take a pic and send it without opening the phone.
Though I don't really see a problem of having the phone's swivel closed when taking a pic though. I would probably have that as the last item on my list on what I wish they would implement on the S700. |

Maybe it's not difficult to sort that out by .
They just have to flip the pic vertically if the swivel is fully open...

That would be awkward because if you're holding the phone vertically, with the swivel open, the positioning of your hand would have your palm over the camera lens. |

Ok. No pic then!
It seems that the workaround is not an option...
Fer christ sakes! If it's phisically impossible, what do you guys want to do about it?!?!?!? Put two cameras? One in each part?

When considering standby- and talk-time, the display resolution should not matter that much. The display should not really be active during a call, and definately not active when testing the standby performance (read: no screensaver etc).
The times presented are probably tested in a lab environment under optimum conditions.

Then why does P900 have 1200 mAh ? Since S700 has a large screen people will most probably use it a lot for other stuff (like K700) than just talking (movies, games, music etc.) and then 780 mAh will be way to small battery in my oppinion. The 700 mAh battery of K700 seem to be a good proof of that.
The reason why the P900 has a battery with higher capacity is most likely because the general power consumption is higher than the S700i.
I fully agree that a 780 mAh battery is too weak for a phone with higher screen resolution than the P900. It might still generate 300 hours of stand-by time in a lab environment, but I fear that the "effective" stand-by time (when using the screen etc) is very low....

Does this mean that active usage of the mediaplayer or radio (which i would be really using a lot of) would cause the phone to last about 3 or 4 hours only? |

When I use my phone to take pics, I hold the phone by the side so my hand would'nt cover up the lens. But it's not going to stop me from buying the phone. It's just an incovience for me because I find myself having to send pics to people that are'nt in my phonebook. |
