Come on, guys. The camera on Z1 is disappointing relative to the hype it has gotten. While I agree it's the best camera on an Android smartphone in terms of producing natural colors and white balance in good lightning conditions, it's downright mediocre in low light conditions, HDR mode, and Panorama shots.
Sony needs to get its shit together, and come up with a promising camera. Better image processing algorithm, Xenon Flash and OIS are just an obvious additions in order to achieve that.
You are absolutely right about that. I have a Xperia ZR and inspite of having a 13MP camera. The same that the Z had. The low light or even no light shots are less than mediocre. You can easily make out the pixellation and non smooth picture. It's not something that can be expected from a Sony Flagship.
In sharp comparison the Nokia Lumia and HTC 4MP Ultra-pixel were way out of the league when it comes to image quality. They are one of the best out there. And I certainly don't think that merely Carl-Zeus lenses are solely responsible for there better image quality. Samsung and Apple both use Sony sensors in there mobiles and still manage to do a better job then Sony itself. That's something that is quite alarming.

The biggest problem is the image processing algorithm. In terms of hardware, the S4 and iPhone 5 are inferior to even the Xperia Z (the Z1 has a stacked and much bigger sensor, so that one is only second to 808 and 1020), yet these two manage to outperform it. The only explanation is better algorithms, Xperia supress too much detail to keep images clean and then compresses them way too much to keep the size down, despite having plenty of memory. Heck, the Z burst mode improves the quality because it has no time to perform the agressive noise suppression algorithm.
And the good news is, with RAW support in future android versions, this will be solved even for old models (Z,T,S ...) making sony competitive again. |

Look what a found, a new page on JDI's official site appeared, "For Smartphone, Tablet" listing all their available displays lineup - appareantly JDI DOES have 5.2 inch display on their lineup: http://www.j-display.com/english/product/mobile.html
"Diagonal 13.2cm(5.2-inch) 1080 × (RGB) × 1920 FHD 424ppi LTPS"
this evidence makes the rumors more real, i suppose the "Z2" is going to get a good treat when it comes to the display this time.
"Diagonal 15.0cm(5.9-inch) 1080 × (RGB) × 1920 FHD 373ppi LTPS" goes for next Z Ultra? more pocketable.
"Diagonal 10.9cm(4.3-inch) 720 × (RGB) × 1280 720HD 341ppi LTPS " - is this the display of the Z1 mini that was showed in a pic recently next to the Z1?
more info on that page.

are you counting on Sony finally go with single source for parts?

Sony will use two sources for displays but there will be no difference in quality. No more display lottery from Sony! |

@DACHA
did you mean multiple sources within JDI or JDI+non-JDI? |

Yes, i'm hoping for a single source since JDI is part Sony and they are always expanding since they started to manufacture displays. maybe JDI is still not big enough to manufacture all of sony's displays and they are also selling displays to apple (and other companies?).
@DACHA
nice to know, but if the two resources are two different display manufacturers, then how come no difference in quality this time?
are the other big mobile companies have more then one resource for display panels like sony? i don't recall HTC, samsung, etc. users complaining about the same device with to different displays qualities.

All major OEMs that use LCD panels have panel lottery. Be it HTC, LG or Apple.

Sony’s S-Master audio chip not heading to an Xperia any time soon
I think it was last year when talks about the next Xperia flagship having an S-Master audio chip started...
So, I think Sony being really stricter now is good for the company. No more false infos and high hopes for the next phones, although bad for the thread .

If the really wanted they could. I would probably kill their stand alone walkmans though. To be successful you cant be afraid to cannibalize your own sales with new products. Steve Jobs knew this and criticised Sony for not knowing it in his biography |

It's a different problem. The whole S-Master system is quite complex and big. It requires a pretty large change in the underlying Android system structure, there's a big hardware footprint in terms of die size and power consumption and the difference in audio quality is not relevant for the vast majority of smartphone owners. You need some serious headphones to hear the difference. I have a Walkman with an S-Master and some pretty expensive reference IEMs and the difference between the two is small already. There's a bit more definition and dynamic range on the Walkman but I don't think I'd want to sacrifice size and battery life on my phone to gain that little in audio quality.
In addition to that it's much harder to shield it all properly in a phone with mobile connections. WiFi doesn't interfere as much. |

OH Man!
There were some people who wanted Sony to develop a Windows phone going forward on this thread itself.
And today I got to know that windows phone don't even support the basic feature such as a file manager. Not even a 3rd party app can access anything on the SD card other than it's own format like 'Pdf, doc etc.
Just visit a windows mobile site and there would be a whole bunch of people complaining about the same. I m amazed how Windows was able to hide such an important fact from all the people. I guess huge marketing does make a difference and goes a long way in fooling people around into buying an broken Windows OS.
Even the response from Microsoft officials is pathetic to say the least. They don't provide the API for that because according to them it's a security hazzard. And some stupid users do agree with the BS from Microsoft. They claim that nobody needs a file manager and WIN 8 mobile already manages the files automatically. And this Win OS is for people who don't need a 'File manager'.
Retard company with retard users, I tell U!
I love Android. Nothing comes close to it !
