Some of the responses, particularly of those defending Apple, are ridiculous to say the least.
This Iphone 4 is the fisrt ever Iphone I really like, it is close to my ideal phone. I do see myself probably getting the Iphone 5 or whatever Apple decides to name it.
However, the antenna problems are real and the response from Jobs is appalling IMO. That newsweek article is spot on, Apple needs to take responsibility on their mess instead of acting like children by resorting to 'but the other kids do have those issues'. The other kids don't suffer from the exact same problems as in the Iphone 4 which are rather serious whenever they occur.
Arrogance, disrepect and total denial are what Jobs displayed on this matter and it will come back to bite them.
Pity really cause they came up with a very, very good product this time around.

Thanks Abu. Very strange indeed. You don't think it could be Provider specific, do you? I'm with Tesco!
Probably. Mine is not not branded.

Is it not enough to love whatever phone you have, HTC, Blackberry, Nokia or SE? You have to trashtalk other companies' phones? Maybe you love your phones too much?

RIM is not happy and frankly i can't blame them Jobs hit an all time low yesterday trashing other phones how desperate is that? Sure all phones lose reception but other phones don't need bumper cases to make them better

Actually I agree to that. Not fair towards RIM. Maybe Nokia had it coming after their How do you hold your Nokia? post. Especially since they do warn owners against covering the antenna in all the users guides.
Having said that I can't find any of those pictures on the web Jobs was talking about with stickers saying 'don't touch here' on Nokia phones. I feel betrayed (*starts crying again*)

More about Antennagate on MSN today:
Apple boss Steve Jobs admitted the company is "not perfect" as he announced iPhone 4 customers would receive free rubber cases in an attempt to fix problems with the handsets.
An internet campaign was launched following complaints about the so-called "death grip" - a phenomenon which could see the phone's signal drop when grasped in the left hand.
But at a press conference at Apple's base in Cupertino, California, Mr Jobs promised iPhone 4 customers a free rubber case - which protects the phone's in-built antenna and cures signal fade - or a full refund.
"We're not perfect. We know that, you know that," he said.
It follows a saga which has rumbled on since the new iPhone 4's launch last month.
Two weeks ago Apple issued a statement blaming software and promised a patch.
But earlier this week an influential American consumer magazine said independent testing proved the phone's hardware was at fault.
Mr Jobs said three million iPhone 4s were sold since its launch three weeks ago, with only 0.55% of customers reporting problems.
Apple also claimed rival handsets showed similar results when gripped across the antenna.

Totally agree that apple messed up... Just want a make a point that since having the iPhone 4 I actually get better reception and yes if I hold in a weird manner on purpose I loose reception... I have found the reception better then the 3GS... If people are unhappy with it they have a chance to return within 30 days use it... The thing is people like the handset and don't want to return... But can't handle the fact their handset has an issue...!

But reception issue aside i don't like the design either I have been a long standing lover of all Apple products (still am) but they got the IP4 completely wrong the 3G/3GS has a unique design and form factor which stands out from the crowd even without Apple logo you could easily tell it as the iphone now with the IP4 remove the logo and it could be just be another phone I thought partly why people bought Apple products was their design and wow factor?

I prefer the i4 to the 3GS it has far beta appeal... Everyone who seen mine say they really like it... I like the handset and it works for me... Thus far the death grip has not caused m any issues as I don't hold my phones that way...
