So after using the phone for a day I have disowned every rumor about the UI. The phone is a pleasure to use and is a lot better then the k800i and the crap joystick. I find the d pad very easy to use and dont have the problem that others are having by accidentally pressing the centre soft key instead of up. I do however find the keys to be a little to small, but overall it is a very comfortable and greatly improved UI.

Coll, I'll check that in a second.

Its £69.99 on £30 a month and I got it free on £28.75 a month XD. Go me.

One thing I seem to have noticed is that the new USB cable I got with the K850i is able to charge the battery faster then it drains while using it as a modem, which is good news.

I practically took it out of the box, installed the drivers and connected up with the intent of draining the initial charge the phone had by playing guildwars so I could give it a full charge, but 5 hours later and its fully charged without draining!

My K800i would completely run out of juice unless plugged into bith the mains charger and the USB cable.

oh god, had a look at the K850i today and i'm so sad. Just plastic, everywhere, felt like a really cheap phone. Why come up with a so sexy and wonderful phone when it's made out of 99% plastic?

This will put an end to my series of K-phones wich started with the T610 and has all the phones in between to the k800.

I will still go for a SE phone but one with a bit more quality

So dissapointed!

You know, most phone casings are made of plastic... Wht do you want it to be made of? Aluminum. Not every phone is like the T650. And even the T650 had just an aluminum coating.
Personally, I don't care what my phone's made of as long as it has god specs and a nice look.

I think just about most phones are made from plastic right? Plastic isnt really that cheap, and the K850i looks and feels great.

Looking at my K800i, its 80% plastic and has a thin metal strip around it. and metal sides on the front. My K750i is all plastic and looks like tackiness and complete cheapness compared to the K850i.

3 years ago though the K750i was the top model available.

Also I just realised the K800i has rubbery buttons and a velvet coating on the back. But I still think the K850i looks way better. I just love the shiny blue and the glossy black.

Yes, but i meant to compare how cheap it now looks, or even how cheap it looked then. The K850i is a masterpiece design, sooo glossy, shiny and blue or green! The colours just go together so nicely.

But I hate how greasy the glossed up phone gets.

Got mine yesterday on Orange and yes they seem to have messed with it more than ever. The biggest dissapointment is the loss of the beautiful laser precision icons. They've been replaced by ugly fat Orange ones. Doesn't look good at all. It also seems that about a third of the icons take you online.

There are no full games, only four demo's, you have to buy any games from Orange online. The phone is full of rubbish orange pictures, most of which you can't delete as usual. It seems to me they are trying to take a leaf out of vodaphones book.

To use the phone is mmmmmmm....... ok. I 'm not very impressed. It is very very plasticy, pay no attention to what anyone says, it does look very stylish but feels cheapish. Worst of all is although the shiny surfaces, they are good looking but as we know, fingerprints are a major problem. Your forever wiping the phone on your leg, so unless you wear white detail gloves all day your gonna have a problem with it.

I'm yet to use it properly, but I'm sure I'll get used to it, I hope I get used to it, I've signed up to an 18 month contract!

Oh....one more thing, the headphones are rubbish. I've been using a w810i for the past 14 months and I use the radio a lot. I loved the earphones but the ones that come with this phone are huge and don't fit in the ear very well at all. The w810's would cut out all exterior noise and the like, where are these are huge and made from hard plastic, not like the rubberised ends on the w810's and unless you have ears like a donkey they are gonna hurt after a bit.

To save some little dumbass saying "this is your opinion and you are wrong!" well yes this is my opinion and I am only telling it like it is. I really wanted to love this phone but at this minute I'd rather be using my w810i, and I'm thinking I should have waitied a little longer for the N95 8gb black. buefore people start I know you can't compare the N95 and K850i, shut up you nonse, it's about the phone and the way it works for me and ericsson have made a mistake with this one I think. Not really a big leap forward. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear.

Mine arrived 10 minutes ago and I have it right here. No problems with the flash or creakiness although I haven't put it through its paces yet.

I'm not a game player and even I enjoy that game!

the creakiness comes after a day or 2. mine was rock solid when it arrived.

goldenface...
could you please confirm 30fps video recording on your K850??

there are prototype samples on the web but all are 15fps.

i just want to know if this has been fixed in the release version of the firmware.

thanks

Not a phone to keep in your back pocket by all accounts, I'm terrified of cracking the camera face since reading Eldars review and its a good job I have a couple of old T610 cleaning cloths lying around.
