P990 vs HTC TyTn |

the TyTN is still my fav current device but... my 3rd one has now gone to the HTC repair centre in Milton Keynes for replacement.
While the others had button problems this one suddenly, after 3 weeks, started with the screen alignment issue.
They assure me the new replacement they send me is fully and individually tested and so I look forward to a trouble free TyTN
so, for now, back to my trusty M600 (P990 is still in box on shelf!)

The TyTN is turning out to be a nightmare rather than a dream for me. |

I'm stil happier with it than I am with the P990 and if this next one, coming direct from HTC with guaranteed no issues really does meet that criteria, I'll be over the moon

Looking at the topic of this tread - can one safely assume - the TyTN is the winner ? ( I hope Arez won't stumble on to this post of mine - he will burn me for weeks to come)

Guys
How much is the difference from the price of the tytn and p990i? Is it out now in the middle east?? What is greatest about the tytn that p990i can't do or have??? |

And on what basis do you make this assumption?
There are a good number of us current or former TyTN owners who prefer the P990i for their needs, and I'd actually say the overall verdict of those who have or have tried both is about 50/50.
Whilst this thread was originally about the merits if the TyTN vs the P990i I think more recently it has turned into a TyTN support thread instead, so of course you will see a higher percentage of TyTN users in here.
As to which device is "the winner" - well the answer to that is there is no overall winner and never will be. Whichever device you choose comes down to individual preference. Both devices have their own merits and both devices have their own issues in equal measure. |

I have allways agreed to what sleepy has said, and i agree here too. It all comes down to peoples taste and prefferences. |

I totally agree with SleepyHead, there are plenty of threads where you will find very happy and contented P990 owners, even those who have used a TyTN.
I played with my friends P990 and it is a good phone. I still much prefer my M3100 as it suits my demanding needs much more. Ironically my friend initially bought the P990 to use with TomTom6, without checking whether there is a version for it... he looks enviously at TT6 running on my M3100. Although I now suspect it's just a matter of time before he can also have the pleasure. |

Why will you leave Esato when leaving SE ? Initially Esato was ment as a SE forum but today more and more users have non SE phones. Is a pity that some members are behaving like kids and take shots at non SE users posting here. I personaly don't give a sh!t, but others do and so they use their PC's when posting. I am aware that both, the P990i and TyTN have stability issues that's why my next cell will be a 'shitty' N95 . Brand name means absolutely nothing to me - as long as the device works as advertised

posted thios in the wm vs uiq3 thread, thought it was pertinent to this thread too.
reading this and other threads at other forums it gives an idea just how much business se have lost simply because of the ridiculous wait from announcement to release of the p990. I, like many others have used and loved the p series for years. Looks, funcionality and uiq OS won hands down with the p900 and p910, I was convinced I'd be sticking with them. After waiting 8 months with the awful camera on the p910 and seeing countless people showing off the 2mp camera on other, lesser se devices I saw the tytn and decided not to wait any longer.
Initially I was gutted, I had to send 3 tytns back due to a variety of problems however 4 weeks on and i'm now happy with my choice. OK, the 2mp camera is pants compared to the se 2mp but WM5 has finally won me over. I have to admit to being a little relieved to see the net full of people sending their p990s back due to crashing and other bugs. I know they'll probably get fixed with firmware updates but being on orange with insurance renders that fact pointless. Orange will not release an update for months, if at all and removing the orange firmware will void my insurance, i had to have 4 replacement p910s over the time i had it so this is a huge factor for me.
Ok, there's a couple of gripes i still have with the tytn but i'll put up with them now I'm used to that excellent keyboard.
The relative failure of the p990 won't harm se - look at the amount of smaller se phones on the streets - and i'll probably be one of the first in the queue for the next in the p series, as long as they've sorted out all the uiq3 issues.
Hopefully it will simply make sure se do not make the same mistake again.
On the other hand, i loved series 60 - i had a nokia 7650 for a year and loved that until i tried uiq. Perhaps this is just natural selection and uiq does fall by the wayside compared with the infinitely funded wm os? |

On my thrid Voda 1605 now.
So far, no keyboard issue and no screen alignment issue. I guess it's third time lucky. lol.
However, if this becomes faulty in anyway, thats it, no more TYTN's for me. More hassle than its worth.
