I think we have been over this hundreds of times. It is as it is.. some have 17 some 16 some 15 some 14 just random ! (actually I have also over 17MB available RAM as reported by the built in task manager after reformatting the internal drive.... but that does not matter at all!!!)

I am interested in finding the fact of which CDA and firmware version has indeed and NOT randomly the 61MB RAM to 3MB RAM/ROM.

And you find that only with SwissManager under System / Free RAM /more!

Thank you!

@Adhey - thanks for the tip! was browsing the web the whole night cant find any workaround, good thing i posted here, i'm gonna try it later, anyway, got some clarification...

1. after use phone as usb mass driver try to restart it and whoala... the icon is back at ur setting before it messed up....

-restart meaning turning it off then on right? or does p9 have a restart button? when should i restart, say i've transferred the files, should i disconnect the phone then restart, or restart it while still in usb mass drive?

2.if u dont want restart the phone here the trick.. use a SMP (swiis manager pro) try memory reclaim level 3, that should shutdown aktivity menu, then back to menu and the icon back to it place...

- hope i got this right - 1. transfer files, 2. use SMP 3. then unplug phone from usb mass drive?

many thanks again really appreciate your advice!

@mode, that's weird indeed! I wonder what things affect the initial RAM usage. How do you check your RAM after boot-up?

I tried to boot up with as minimal of a configuration as possible just now:
- not connected to PC
- flight mode
- Bluetooth disabled
- WiFi disabled
- Default theme

After booting, I opened the main menu, selected tools, and opened Swiss Manager (non pro). And, the RAM free was reported to be 14.8MB.

The only open programs are listed as:
- Main menu
- Activity menu
- Phone
- Connections mgr
- SecurityApp

Performing a level 2 memory reclaim brought my free RAM to 16.0MB

Still not getting that one extra MB you're seeing! Interesting..

Ah, that explains it.. To turn on SMP you'd have to access the active menu. Both actions take up RAM, even with the most basic settings. You should access your RAM status from the standby screen under 'more' -->'status' in FC mode so that you don't take up any RAM for this task. This is how you get the true free RAM value at startup

Yes and while u will get something between 14.8 - 15.0 MB right after startup, it will climb up to 16.0-16.4 MB within a minute or so.
You can accelerate this by opening & closing the flip.. [addsig]

CDA for Turkey is /67, fortunately mine is /1. But I have a friend who does have /67 so I may be able to tell you the answer in a couple of days. I am guessing it would be 59 though...

@mode, myth,

Ah, yah, I guess that the menu would impact it, especially since it always takes a brief moment to open it for the first time. The problem is that I use my P990i with the flip removed, so I can't check the RAM like that. I've always found it a little silly how you can check the RAM from FC, but not from FO.

Okay, thanks... sounds good!
I am thinking back and forth with this issue but with the Netherland I have, SE even INCLUDES Black Berry and still gives 61RAM. So why most of the R6 firmware, or actually all of it so far (I wish more people would come out and state their RAM, expecially from Italy (162008/65) and Turkey (162008/67!), I don't understand.

I only know, one can have MORE BASIC RAM when looking for the right firmware package!

connecting to a network is different than acessing it. I usually get "unable to find server" if i don't have network access even though i'm connected. I'm speaking from a limited capacity since i have an unlimited 3g plan and only use wifi at starbucks

CDA 67 for Turkey:

CDA /67 with R5A17 is 61/3
CDA /67 with R6D23 is 59/5

Thanks very much. Now my suspicion has been confirmed. One must decide to either have the latest firmware and 61RAM or the latest and only 59MB.

I really would want to demand an answer from SE as to WHY this is and what for the latest firmware needs 5 MB of RAM reserved!

So for now, I have changed my CDA back to World1. SE sucks!

Thanks for the answer... so do you think there is anything i can do now to fix the problem.. If you can point me to the right direction, it would be a nig help... apart from getting an updated firmware.. (I am still waiting for cda 6/7's updated firmware to be made available to us).

Appreciate your help and efforts.

No. None of the Symbian phones can do that.
