i recently got my x1 (silver ) and i've reset it once (through system) and just want to know if anyone else has a bit of lag (its not smooth) when opening up the panel menu.

if so, is there anyway to get around it tomake it smooth?

are there any firmware updates available?

also, my contacts are on my sim card and the names are unjumbled, how can i sort the contact names (as you can't edit sim card names :S)

thanks.

1. When you say lag, do you mean just when opening the panel? If so, yes that's normal, but hopefully will improve with updates & time.
2. Depends on who you're with, if Vodafone, be careful as it probably won't work - yet. If not check out the SE website.
3. There are a number of programs that can help. XperiaTweak (http://www.cliffords.nu/) has a host of useful facilities, include a contact sorter. I used "contact changer" (www.shubaroo.com) to sort my 500+ contacts.

It is released in Dubai as X1 without any prefix neither X1i nor X1a, it is 850/900/1800/1900 is it in line with Europe release?

Hi hghaly,
Those numbers are GSM bands. They are universal in any phone.
Check the UMTS bands in settigs. or even better, look at the sticker in the box.

I looked at the box it is UMTS that's all, I might need to get into setting

mate, X1 is working in the middleeast without any problem with gsm bands even umts. Even my p990i with only triband works there and X1 is using a quadband so no worries. How much X1 now there in dubai??

you mean to say you have a silver x1 but it has a black behind. somethings wrong. Cause the reviews clearly showed silver behind for a silver phone.

For some reason my panels don't work anymore. On start-up I get an error message re: not found or trusted certificate and when pressing the panel button I get:

PanelManager.exe not found!! Please install PanelManager or check the registry settings.

Anyone know a fix. If not how do I back up my contacts and all text messages so I can reset the phone?

How do you plan to reset the phone? Do you mean to re-flash the rom? I am asking this cause some time ago, I did some kind of mistake and deleted the camera EXE file. After that of course the camera button couldn't work properly. I fixed it by flashing the bios files through SE update service.
Anyway, be careful if you plan to do the same, and find a PC with windowsXP cause SE update service stops in some systems with windows vista 32.
There are many programs out there for back up and restore. I used to do backups with SPB Backup , but the I found that SKTools is more flexible and reliable.

To all Xperia owners: Check this out http://www.imarche.net/omnia/fullpacks.php

Settings/system/clear storage did it for me. Used a back-up utility and then activated this. Phone was restored to original. Panels now work

Is there a way to totally backup the memory of the X1 in order to do a restore later on ?

I mean, is there a way to do it without third party apps ?

If not, what app is best at this ?

The black version is with metal accented front and back with silver keypad. The silver version is metal accented silver all round with silver keypad
