And we wont just go 4 something just cause it has more apps. UIQ is definately silly 4 ppl who agf412 quoted as stupid or lazy but I love it & hope SE stays with it.

Heck, if the next Pee is going to look like the "leaked" pictures, or if SE are really going down the Windows chute, my next phone will be the smallest, cheapest Bluetooth-enabled one I can find, and I'm going to buy me a Nokia 770. |

@Maratonmannen
When are you gonna update this thread and spell the topic correctly?!? The codename for the P1000 is known as the "Hermione" not "Hermoine"

Wasn't there someone in Harry Potter who was named Hermonie?

Your almost right, the character was called Hermione, like the P1000, not Hermonie

has, the jog dial doesn't have any advantages... it is a far cry from the joystick Ericsson introduced with the T68m. Why? The joystick is ambidextrous. The jogdial isn't. The joystick can be used for games... the jogdial can't (it can...but it's a stupid way to play games with) Even the older Ericsson R520m had a 4 way pad... that had more logic behind it than the Jogdial.
There's nothing the jogdial can do, that the joystick can't do better. The "push-pull" of the jogdial isn't very well thought out... it was something that Sony added as an afterthought since they hyped up the Jogdial so much, but never thought of it's limitations... so again... dumped it in SE's lap.
I'm not saying the Jogdial is horrible... it just isn't as good as what Ericsson had to begin with. The Jogdial & Memorystick are things Sony threw SE's way just to make up for their own losses. Those are 2 technologies Sony should've scrapped a LONG time ago...and should never bring back.
But like I said, I am kinda glad that even though they give SE only old stuff, it's still a lot better than what the other manufacturers have... Sony's old CCD/CMOS sensors are still better than what the other phone cams have... as well as their DSPs (P-series has better audio quality than the iPod) ... and thankfully, the new W800 comes with half decent earphones now.
It's a start. I only pray that Sony's retarded MicroMV never finds its way into SE's technology closet. |

The jog-dial is far more senible for a touch screen phone as it can be put on the side and doesnt disrupt the large touch screen. If the p910 for example, was to have a joystick instead it wuld have to be taller to not only accomodate the joystick but to also add suficent bulk to make handling it worthwhile. Look at the motorola axxx series where they have had to make their phones huge to acomodate both the touch screen and a joysitck/joypad. In my opinion the jog-dial is one of the nicer design features of the pxxxs, i used to love it on the z5, then i got a sony clie which had it and eventually my p910i, it feels so natural to use it. |
