I tend to hold onto my phones for a good while - CMD-J6 I used for 4 years, Xperia P I kept for three years, now on 3 years with my Z1C. If I get the XZ-P I get the impression I would be more likely to jump ship sooner if a fantastic new Compact came along.. thing is I never got the attraction with the larger screens. I've used Swype since my first smartphone and the smaller the screen, the more effective it is. I never watch movies on my phone, I have a tablet if I want a big screen but in fact I never watch movies on that --either--. And even the 4.3 of my Z1c is plenty for watching the odd Youtube of cats or face-plants..
Not to criticize your choice in any way, my preference is odd, I know, especially given I'm 6'3, but I guess I always prefer svelte/compact in general; same goes for my preference in girls, haha. I would gladly pay just as much for a really top-class mini phone as I would for the latest/greatest big screen. Big costs money. I get it; miniturisation costs money too and I really think what's been lost from the market is the appreciation of the extra R&D that is required to make things --smaller--. Everyone loves it when their phone can hold a bigger battery in the same physical size but how do they think "they" managed to keep making those improvements? A smaller screen is not a -loss-, it's a bonus. |

I understand buddy. In fact Sony had a great success with Z1C and Z3C so I hope the new compact will be flagship grade as many fans are waiting for it |

If this rumor is correct: "full pixel continuous and shoot." then most likey they are talking about this new sensor (
http://image-sensors-world.bl[....]iple-sampling-sensor.html?m=1)
In the new sensor, they are talking about pixels.
"Pixel readout is accomplished utilizing a 4-shared-pixel floating diffusion (FD) boost-driving architecture."

BUT I might be wrong. Please take it with a grain of salt. |

^I don't think Sony will be using a different sensor on their IFA flagships. The full continuous shooting is probably just a software feature to compliment IMX 400. It will be probably similar to Canon's continuous shooting feature where the camera keep taking pictures of the object, more like burst but it is not just one click. So you can capture the best moment. It is different to the predictive shot feature of XZs and Premium where the camera takes up to four pictures if it detects motion. So you never miss a shot. |

I get where you're coming from. I have the compact / tablet combo and I use the tablet all the time for watching films, reading etc.
However, being pretty tall myself, I feel that I would Swype a lot quicker if the screen was a bit bigger. I find I'm having to correct my typos a bit too often, so I'm looking forward to trying a larger screen.

Apologies to atom-bomb for poaching this from the XZ Premium thread.
Regarding the 'Y' concept shown a while ago, is this the new design for the (2017/2018) series of phones?
