DSP oh.. thats sounds cool. but we don't get any info on that! does it have a DSP really?

The W995 does not have a DSP, it has nothing new sound quality compared to the age old W800i, the headphones do all the work, they are very high quality.

@Mizzle
This pic of the W995 shows a new look to the video player, has the video player changed?

Can't remember, I've put my W995's on the shelf.

Well, We will keep waiting for maybe the best SE after W810i

Well - excluding the smartphones; Xperia - I'd say that this IS the best SE phone after the W810i.

* Camera is better plus also having AutoFocus (W810 also had this and W610).
* Incredible Music Player with dedicated DSP chip & specifically 3.5mm headset jack! (question for those on the inside in a moment)
* Larger screen with A2 capabilities and Capuchin Java+Flash sweetness.
* Faster device usuage!
* Solid construction utilizing metal & plastics.
* The return of dedicated music playback buttons = now separate from Volume buttons.
* WLAN!
* 3.5G UMTS data speeds!
* Same great Java application switching capabilities NOW with ability to run MORE THAN 2 java apps simultaneously due to larger memory and more powerful J2ME Runtime.

Oh yeah ... definately the BEST SE Walkman phone since W810 - excluding the smartphone lineup in Walkman (W960 & upcoming Idou).

I completely agree

Yeah, shouldn't worry though. I tend to get bored at 10x the speed of everyone else.

I was wrong about it all based on headphones but there is still some truth to that. This is taken from mobile-review.com, the sound quality on the W995 is exactly the same on the w980.

"This phone features no dedicated DSP, so all sound in this phone is processed by its CPU. Its true that you can get pretty decent sound quality even without a dedicated DSP onboard in fact, its not a cure-all in this sense. But only a DSP can allow you to even out all frequencies and parts of the audio spectrum."

"was a decent performer in our RMAA-powered frequency response tests, being on a par with most dedicated music players, such as the iPod Nano"

mobile-review and SE reviews really dont go together. Try a few other websites, I am sure you will have contradicting opinions.

They might not go hand in hand for se fanboys. But he isnt lying, and the comment i posted from MR where hardley negative comments, quite positive infact. If you can post a link to a review for either the W715 or the W980 (both feature clear audio) that specifically state that either of these products feature a deticated audio chip (ie a dsp chip), then i might start agreeing with you, but until then its software and nothing more.

I dont have to give anyway, coz facts are facts. MR wont be able to hear anything above the current SE range of phones coz he doesnt want to. Try phonearena/gsmarena which clearly describes the W995 as one of the best offerrings till date. Looking at the graphs, it actually is.

How else do you mean to measure its quality??

Lets hope the W995 is the start of decent flagships from se, so far the W910/k850/c902/c905 have all (in a sense) been a failure to se

Leave him,thats the same person who said a K850 sounds better than a N81 going by the GSMArena graphs, lol IN REAL LIFE that was absolute cock and bull, i have both and the SE was the one that needed better acoustics.
Eldar may not like SE but he certainly doesnt lie in his reviews, i feel the same way he does about SE= LOADS of potential, but not making any use of it.
That said im sure the W995 sounds decent when compared to most 2yearold mid range music phones.
