I`ve heard on the radio today that UIQ here in sweden are going to sack 230
workers (uiq technicians)out of 340.Does that means no more update. It must have something to do with Nokias purchase of Symbian. We`l se. |

Lol you need to take a good look at this:

And read it through thoroughly.
Don't worry the G900 and any UIQ phones will still be supported. Theres still 2 years before this new announcement has any effect noticeable to the consumer.

I've just spoken to Vodafone and the guy there doesn't think they'll be getting the G900, anyone know otherwise? |

But is it not the people at UIQ that provide the update? |

..The way they explained it, it seems they provide a framework only, based on some specification or other (symbian 9.1) to their customers(Moto, SE). After that I don't think they have any control over what's done with it.

It's a bit like if Microsoft left the 'explorer' bit of windows to someone else...hmm no wonder they (SE) come out with something so disjointed, sounds like madness to me. I think a unified approach to the OS might just stop it being something we laugh about in years to come. |

@ toph
I went into the vodafone store yesterday and asked about the G900.
he replied with....'The sony Ericsson G900??...and a puzzled face'
'Never heard of it mate'
He checked the computer system for soon to be available handsets and it wasn't there...but from what ive seen, none of the leading networks have a date yet as to when the G900 will be available. So lets just cross our fingers. =)

I asked O2 retentions today. The guy said he had the list for the next 2 months and the G900 wasn't on it. He went on to say that it would be August/September at the earliest, if they were going to carry it at all. |

@AD: ..no, it's a bit more like if someone made A desktop environment.. like Gnome, for example.. and left the X- server implementation to an infinite amount of monkeys. Who also happens to own the Gnome- people. Then the monkeys get mad because they don't achieve perfection on a finite timeframe - and try to make their own desktop environment instead. Which they dream in their monkey brains will be able to run on all platforms with no trouble at all. And then they get cross at the Gnome- dudes because the monkeys screw up their implementation, and the gnome- code doesn't magically fix everything. Because they don't see the point with implementing panels in svg tiny 1.2, instead of programming it from basic apis below the X-server - because.. they are monkeys! Then the monkeys end up firing the gnome- dudes, because the monkeys can't see the point with Gnome any more, and blame everything that went wrong with the system, the x-server in particular, and the lack of monkey exceptional brilliance - on Gnome.
So result: monkeys still earn money. People who worked really hard to get something done in the mobile industry will get the sack. Hopefully, they'll find work again someplace that isn't RUN BY MONKEYS... but then again, this is the mobile industry we're talking about..

I've got my sim free one on pre-order. I'm not waiting for the networks to catch up at the end of the year. Especially Orange as it will want to load it's own interface no doubt. |

Think I'm gonna do this now, where did you go for in the end? Expansys or Play? |

Mine will be probably delivered tomorrow. I'm not waiting for my provider to have it. They have the C902 now and the G502, but especially the C902 can't convince me.
I don't care too much about the camera anymore, but I do hope the G900 will also sound great as an mp3-player, at least just as good as my K800>K810 with modded W880 sounddrivers and Sennheiser HD215. If that's the case, I don't think I'll miss my beloved K800.
