sorry for being lazy here, but I don't want to have to go through all 44 pages just to look for instruction to install some games (ROMS) in the iPhone. I've searched but the only relevant thing coming up is the "thank you for installing the NES" post on the first page of this thread.

could anyone be so kind and point out some links to me if there's any, pretty please? my husband misses his Super Mario Bros (he beat the nintendo DS game twice already, so he want to play the original one and be a bit nostalgic)

Apple has supposedly ordered another 10 million iPhones - I want mine delivered now

"According to an analyst at Gartner, Apple has ordered a second batch of 10 million 3G iPhones to be delivered. That’s a total of 10 million regular iPhones and 10 million 3G iPhones that Apple is apparently hoping to sell by the end of this year.

Speculation by the same analyst was that the new 3G iPhone would use an OLED display which would net it a thinner design and a longer battery life. The switch to OLED would make sense, some would say that it would help make up the difference in battery that 3G would drain, but we already know that several system on a chip designs that include 3G are out there that are at the same level of power usage as the iPhone’s current chipset, such as the one from Broadcom which would have brought several other new features as well.

As far as the thinner design goes, that would have its potential up and down sides, if it was so thing it was as thin as the iPod Touch, then all those accessories/cases would work, but if it was thinner, or not quite that thin, but thinner than an iPhone, you’d have to have a whole new set of cases/accessories developed which would suck for manufacturers and consumers alike. I don’t really care though, I just want my damned 3G iPhone pronto!"

Ok I've now been left with a difficult decision, I had been planning to get an iphone and I knew the rumours of the 3g iphone but now my brother in law is going state side in 3 weeks and if I want one from there I need to let him know. Any ideas when they are likely to announce it if its true? I read something about WWDC but when is it? There is also the issue with how quickly it would be jailbroken and unlocked etc, but I think the biggest thing is how is the iphone for web browsing at the moment and how much difference would 3g make??

As I said decisions decisions...

wwdc is in june, would have thought we'll see the 3g one there. When it is released is anyones guess, some time soon after that i would have thought.

The current iPhone could do with being 3g as the browser is fantastic and ive certainly surfed a lot lot more on the move than did before with other phones. For em edge is just fast enough, and where i am in central london i don't get any 3g reception (well i didnt with Orange anyway). The free wifi is cool as well.

Found an interesting article.

WSJ's Mossberg says 3G iPhone due in 60 days

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking at a Beet.tv executive summit, well-known Wall Street Journal writer Walt Mossberg has stirred the pot by stating that an iPhone with 3G access will be available within 60 days.

The journalist makes his off-hand but apparently certain statement while discussing the relatively poor state of Internet access in the US, whose cellular and landline connections are often outrun by foreign providers.

Mossberg doesn't cite any sources in his talk with executives, in which he also comments that the Apple TV is limited by the speed of American Internet access.

However, the technology critic is also known for gaining privileged access to information and products from Apple. Mossberg received his review iPhone on June 11th last year -- more than two weeks before the touchscreen cellphone was available to the general public and ahead of most other journalists.

The comments echo the increasingly repeated June timetable for a launch of an iPhone with faster wireless access. In recent days, multiple analysts have predicted that Apple will unveil its 3G iPhone no later than June, with Piper Jaffray claiming that the ongoing iPhone shortage is a sign of inventory control measures meant to phase out older models.

T-Mobile Germany has further sparked interest by subsidizing the price of 8GB iPhones in a promotional campaign that ends June 30th.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the 3G iphone does anyone think it will be the sucessor to iphone or just iphone with 3G? When I say sucessor I mean other new features such as a better cam ect....

Also a quick question regarding SDK. When it comes in June or whenever will that mean they will be actual apps that are installed or wil they be web based apps? Reason I ask is that im hoping an MSN/Windows Live Messenger Client app is made. I know there are things like meebo and ebuddy but those arnt secure and a proper application would be much better than some online one.

oh, my googling hasn't come up with any similar experience so far

I assume it is ok to do the full reset with the "erase all content and settings?"... I read in a couple of places this won't lock the phone again but I'm not sure yet that it won't also get rid of installer?

I think it may get rid of the installer. But you can just put it on again if that happens.
