last night i left my phone beside the bed fully charged (no programmes running, no wlan etc etc) and this morning..
the battery was empty and the phone switched off..
i'm running the latest firmware and thought this shouldn't happen any more? anyone else had this with the latest firmware?

It happened to me once...but what happened was that when the phone went to keypad lock, the backlight dimmed...just when the backlight had to go off completely, the message came up "to unlock the phone......" with full backlight and then it showed the standby screen again in dimmed backlight...this thing went round and round till i woke up in the morning to see it happen...in the past 2 weeks,it happened again while the phone was in my pocket.A roboot solves the problem.

In the past 2-3 weeks io have rebooted to solve the above problem and also when my opera crashes due to low memory.Otherwise,i find the phone stable.

maruf06, go to

-control panel
-connections
-click on top - mobile networks
-select - gsm/3g networks
-select -gsm only

voila

BUT this is not the only battery drainer:

consider selecting also GPRS and select CS only which means the phone stays in gsm mode until you select ie. the internet browser then the phone connects to gprs and after you are done, it will automatically disconnect. Saves another bunch of battery power!

switch on the virtual keypad. this way your keyboard will only allow numbers and the special characters. and the follow the same steps as with the flip on. to enter '*' hit the 'X' key.

use '*' by tapping it on the virtual (numeric) keypad you use for your phone calls:

jog up (1 click) > * > jog down (2 clicks) > * > jog down (1 click)

This should work... [addsig]

So may i ask how many people have this battery draining problem on their p990?

Also has the recent software update solved many of the issues?

Yes, for me it has solved almost all the serious issues I had with the P990. I definitely recommend it, especially if you have any problems.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

It is impossible to have TomTom and the pre-installed game running at the same time. I am not satisfied.

Shouldn't that be :

* jogdial up * jogdial down jogdial down * jogdial down * will bring up Service Menu, select "Format internal disk".

(shamelessly copy-paste form somewhere on aas)

With or without the * at the beginning work both on my p990
