I'm sure they will, but that doesn't make releasing it like this any more valid

I agree masseur, you would expect your phone to be in perfect working order as soon as you buy it. What about all these normal people that dont even know what firmware is, or how to update it? They have no chance, and it makes look bad because they will tell everyone they know that phones are really unstable etc.

Not good .

what third-party apps are you using?
At the moment nothing
Are you using the original 64MB M2 card or one that has been freshly formatted
A new 512 one which has been formatted, then i dragged the contents of the supplied memory card onto the new one
have you tried to reflash the firmware
Yep, the min I got the phone i did it
Are you using a 2g or 3g SIM
A 3g SIM

The slow down must be due to memory leakages

hmmmm, I just tried to run play now for the first time and though I have 19mb free, and as much again on the supplied memory stick, I got the error message 'not enough memory'!

I suspect the web browser on the M600! I have used it bit more today then yesterday but it was today that I lost a lot of RAM. So I will try to be web browser free tomorrow and see how the built-in apps cope. After a fresh re-boot I watched the memory levels as I started and stopped apps and I couldn't see any obvious leakage. Anyone have an idea where the web browsers cache may be located?

EDIT: as I am a boring business user, I have not played any games on the M600i or tried to watch videos. Not sure how stable the Golf game is and if it could affect the functioning of the phone

@Coxy - I agree, but I suspect at this stage of the game the only M600 owners are going to be us early adopters, so hopefully firmware updates shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Hopefully SE can resolve the bulk of the issues before the phone reaches wider availability in the next month or so.

@Masseur & Gabster

One more idea. With Palm devices that use non-volatile memory it is possible for the RAM memory to become corrupt. The only way to fix this is to perform a hard reset. Now on the M600i I am not sure how to do this (may be in the manual). But a reflash should have the same effect. Now after a reflash/hard reset try to only use the PIM and phone functions - I was very boring in my use of the M600i and only used PIM, web, media player and Play.

I've been looking high and low for a screen capture program that works so we don't have to do pics like that, but so far no luck

edit: btw, I'm going to try a reflash one more time

Im not really worried about the bugs with this phone because they're sure to be fixed. My concern is more with the design of UIQ3. I've got a couple of important quick answer questions, that'll probably help others looking at this phone too.

Music

- Is it easy to play/pause and change tracks without looking at the phone?

- Is it possible to lock the phones keypad/screen while in the music player?

- What are the keys for play, pause, rev, fwrd? And are they reassignable?

- Is megabass present?

SMS

- As in the w800/k750, is the 'recently sent to' list there when choosing a recipient for the text?

- How many dialogs do you have to go through when sending a text?
(in w800 its joystick left>select sms>write message>select number[with recent list available]>send)

General

- Is it possible to display notes on the homescreen?

- Does the Today screen show appointments with time (10:00 Dentist) Or only the number of appointments for that day?

- Are the buttons with no numbers on them (eg the letter 'q') useless in standby mode?

- In standby mode, are the softkeys on the touchscreen reassignable?

- Does the calls list only remember the time and date of only the last call from a specific caller like the w800?

Thats all for now lol, thanks in advance!

-> Yes

- What are the keys for play, pause, rev, fwrd? And are they reassignable?

-> on-screen (can't see to use the key board)

@Jah

I will do a reflash as well and see, to be honest, i used the phone exactly like you, have not tried to play any games either. I noticed a MASSIVE slow down when i synced my calender entries from outlook, could that be a possiblity? I find it hard to believe that that could slow the phone down to such a degree!
