My answer on 6-3-3-4: well thats their problemo... if it means I take my child to primary scholl in Cotonou, I will... but my child is not spending any extra 3 years. Though the policy is not too clear to me.
On SETI: is God, Lord Jesus, angels, demons and the devil living on earth? So THERE IS LIFE elsewhere....

Demmy,we all agree on a thing,i.e;fast players or who may be called 'yahoo boys' hav turned the internet into a means of carryg out nefarious activities.To tackle this problem we hav to start from somewhere.Thats what EFCC is trying to do.

Howdy everyone.
I have long known that browsing thru cybercafe's is a dangerous pastime for any sane individual in Nigeria, hence my investment on home connections. However, the negative image these "yahoo boys" have created about Nigerians is so bad that any laws that may try to curb its growth is welcome.
The bane of this law remains its enforcement. EFCC already has its hand full as it were with cases of financial misconduct. There's no way they can take on and effectively tackle the menace of cybercrime emmanating from Nigeria. These crooks are a lot smarter and more knowledgable in the digital world than the average EFCC agent who doesn't know the diffrerence between an IP address and a node.
The drawback of this law is that Vmobile may have to begin billing for gprs if it has to "Register" this service. As we all know, registration will not be free abi? |

Ambyz,you are quite right,enforcement is an aspect of real concern in the whole issue.Not only in this EFCC law but in all Nigerian laws.Many critics hav said that Nigeria has the best laws in the world but these laws are not implemented.

@all, d new edu system ìs meant 2 achieve d (MDGs) Millennium Development Goals, which proscribes dt all inhabitants of d world should have at least universal basic education. The F.G dia4 realised dt primary edu alone wud no longer suffix, hence d policy 2ensure dt ppl study 4a min level of j.s.s equivalent required 4 technical edu. It's a well knon fact dt most ppl stops schooling after d primary cert, this ìs why they want 2merge the J.S.S with primary so dt it can b completed at a stretch. i.e 9.3.4

Oh... is that the change? All I heard was that 3 more year had been "added". Ok, good idea. As far as Secondary School remains 3 years and not a year more.
On the Yahoo Boys... believe me, the EFCC will have its hand-cuffs full as more ppl get on the internet. I am wary of my personal info getting into every cyber-cafe register. Besides, any Yahoo Boy worth his salt can get a V-Sat and browse from home.
I agree with Amby that the EFCC is in tooooo many battles and is waaaay out of its league when it comes to cyberspace. It is doing the work of the Police, Customs, NAFDAC, SSS and the Prisons!
Yes, o... where is Ihejirika? Brymm is enjoying his married life, so he can be excused.... but I am sure he will pop-in when baby#1 pops-up.

Coola, I bet you're right there about Brym, so I guess we should be expecting him here pretty soon.
The new 9-3-4 education system is just copying the American style of 9th grade primary education, 3years of high school & 4years of college. So effectively we're transiting from british to US education system. Wow that was a lot of brainstorming for our education policy makers, phew

I think EFCC has become a kind of mad dog that need to be tamed. Their approach to crime fighting is akin to something like demolishing a house to prevent the house owner from being robbed! I have no doubt there must be a better way to control the activities of the few number of the Yahoo! Thieves around than to tie a noose round the neck of the over 90% of the rest of us who are legitimate users and the potential yahoo thieves who have chosen the better path of operating a cybercafe to ammeliorate the hardship that his excellency the "life leader" has imposed on all of us. |

Meanwhile i noticed something in 9ja recently which i find very disconcerting. It is the increase in sachet pack (15 or 20g) of various consummables. You name it- Bournvita, peak milk, omo and now tomatoes.
