WOW, MATH QUESTION.
IT TOOK ME 7 TRIES STARTING FROM 4 APPLES BEFORE I GOT IT.
79 APPLES IS THE LEAST APPLES FOR THAT BUNCH TO HAVE.
the 1st man and the horse will get their share, 52 will be left.
the 2nd man and the horse will get their share, 34 will be left.
the 3rd man and the horse will get their share, 22 will be left.
and finally, everyone will get their share.
and since, nothing is left, they will roast the horse the next day. hahahaha. |

No, 79 is not the minimum according to my calculations
According to my calculations, the answer is 25 apples
First guy, splits it into 8+8+8+1 , takes 8,feeds 1 to horse, so 16 left
2nd guy, splits it into 5+5+5+1, takes 5, feeds 1 to horse, 10 left
3rd guy, splits it into 3+3+3+1, takes 3, feeds 1 to horse, 6 left
Final day - 2+2+2+1, each guy takes 2 apples, and feed the last one to horse

on the next morning, 6 apples only left so you miss 1 apple for the horse.

What's difficult to understand about my answer to the triangle problem?
They all raised their hands that means they all saw at least one yellow; and it also means that there is either all yellow or only one blue otherwise one of them wouldn't have raised his hand if there were more than one blue. Therefore if one of them saw blue they would immediately know that they had yellow with them. But nobody lowered their hand so that can only mean that they all are seeing the same thing -- which leads one son to conclude that they all had yellow.
This is disappointing.

SUPER HARD!!!! (in my view)
1 door closes, 9 open. When 9 close, 1 door opens. What is it?

I think the answer to the horse-apple problem is 10.
1st man got 7 so he divided it into 2, 2, 2, and 1 for the horse leaving 4
2nd man got 7 also and divided it the same way leaving 4
3rd man got only 4 and divided it into 1, 1, 1, and 1 for the horse leaving 2
In the morning the total apples in the bunch is 10 so they divide it into 3, 3, 3, and 1 for the horse.
resistance is futile. |

@black - i think the question meant for us to find out the min number of apples on the previous day (ie. before they started dividing the apples)

I just realized how much I misunderstood the horse-apple problem.
I'll try again...
