I agree with your analysis mongoose. I still don't feel my camera suffers a huge amount from aliasing, but it's just very noticable because the K750 camera really didn't suffer from this at all. But K750 had the bad white lines, something that I've never seen on other camera phone pics. So maybe it's some kind of trade-off they thought it better to have aliasing than white lines?

Many people rubbished the K750 for it's white lines, maybe SE wanted to make sure they wouldn't suffer that criticism in the K800 (instead they now suffer criticism for aliasing and water colour filtering!!)

Guys, I notice some complaining about extra noise when ISO is at 400. If you want to use a larger ISO setting get used to it, there's nothing you can do - especially in low light. All digicams suffer increased noise as ISO increases, especially camera's with small lens.

Actually the culprit is small sensor (with high MP, the higher MP the more noise visible in all ISO setting, especially the higher the ISO). And yes all small sensor will require small lenses. That is why I always stated that 3mp is more than enough and unless sensor technology catches up we may have to live with the noise.

actually, it is all digital cameras (all sensors, but especially cmos) that suffers from noise problems. It's inherrant to the nature of digital camera technology. No matter what the camera, you will always get an increase in noise with an increase in ISO. It's EXACTLY the same scenario with film. Higher ISO = more graininess.

However, the better quality the sensor, the less noise you get. Just like the better quality film you use, the less graininess at high iso's. It's not the size per se, though smaller sensors are harder to make at high quality, so CHEAP sensors are always small and crap. However, as technology improves, it becomes possible to make smaller and smaller sensors for the same quality (ie: low noise). So you can have smaller sensors, but if you want the same quality, the sensor will be much more expensive.

For example, my K750 has a much smaller sensor than the old Powershot 350 (VGA) I used to own. Yet the K750 sensor can 2MP pictures. If you resize those 2MP pictures to VGA, they are MUCH better than the powershot, with NO noise. So the K750 smaller sensor, can actually capture more usable information than the larger VGA sensor of the powershot.

Of course it does.

Can you make us a 3.3 without FPS increase?
I would be very thankfull

BTW.. if its possible to have auto focus, with image stabilizer on Snow/Beach mode, can't you add that option to normal mode?

Now one question.

the whole
Twilight_landscape = #COM_EVENT(55,01) // contrast to 1
#COM_EVENT(56,03) // sharpness DONT DO NOTHING
#COM_EVENT(06,09); // exposure to 09

makes no difference and sports mode exposure is messed up so i created

Sport_scene = #COM_EVENT(55,00) // Reset contrast
#COM_EVENT(56,02) // Sharpeness 00 to 08
#COM_EVENT(06,02); // Reset exposure

to fix it

i do also thinkin about that.... the stock drivers addresses to those major photo needs very well... tho sometimes it misfires...

and the answer to those misfires are these modded drivers.

whats pulling the modded ones down is the inability to adapt altogether other feature of the imaging phone... like BestPic™.

so its anybody's ball game right now....

yeah, I changed normal mode's sharpness to 05 and it seems to suit me best. and this setting applies to all other scenes like portrait and twilight portrait.

I don't mind the zoom bug on the video because I don't see the point of zooming during video recording. furthermore, it's 176x122, what can u expect to see with zoom? unless we are talking about optical zoom then it may be a different case. and BestPic is now bug-less for me.

digital zoom is a lot more useful in video than in still photography. Because the image is moving, it's not so evident how grainy the zoom is, so can actually be used to good effect on small resolution video recordings

Here's an example of what I mean, recently the visit by the USS Kitty Hawk on the way home to her grave (or life as a floating hotel maybe?):

in the first video you can see the camera's normal video, without zoom.

Here's the same scene but using digital zoom:

It's definitely worth using.

4x Zoom would be good but when u max out the zoom, it's not worth anymore.

Digital zoom is complete useless. I always have it off on my k800 and my other real digital cameras. I donīt see any good use of it unless you have a camera with a lot of pixels. You always get a lousy image.

It is better they put in optical zoom instead, but it will take more space in the phone.

It is still a long way to go untill SE old K700 slogan "Phone meets camera" wil become real. But it is going the right way.
