Hi bugsiiy

I have recently sold my N93 but as it was always kept in a nice leather case it had suffered none of the things you have listed. The only thing was a very slight rub mark in only one spot from being put in Laptop mode. Otherwise everything was the way it should be and i had no issues with battery life either and yes i do miss it.

hi

my N70 takes crap pictures, especially at night. its on 3. Would upgrading the firmware to a new unbranded one help at all?

If so, what is the best thing to debrand the phone and its also not unlocked. last time i used da vinci, it screwed my SE k750i up.

Use NSS to change the N70's product code,

0536418 is the ME version of the N70's f/w (euro)

Then plug it in and update the f/w from NUS

Easy

The external screen lighting up issue is to do with dodgy themes - the phone should only do it with 3rd party themes and not when an original Nokia theme is used, or a 3rd party theme that is fully compatible.

As for issues, my N93 is 8 months old now, and the only problems i have is a collection of dust inside the other LCD, and a small pin-prick size hole in the paintwork where the lug on the phones keypad has worn it away when the flip is put into what you call laptop mode.

Oh, and i no longer have a lens cover, i broke that myself months ago.

Here are some pics taken with my N93,BEAR IN MIND that the photos were made through the windshield of the car and thus the autofocus doesn't work properly:

Same picture only with Landscape mode (no autofocus,i think it's the best)

nice pics, but i disagree with the autofocus reliability on your windshield, N93's autofocus is a passive type one, it relies on light waves(infrared light) to get the right focus so the windshield does not make sense on the reliability of that type of AF, but if only N93 uses active autofocus which uses "soundwaves" then the windshield with be really a hindrance for it's accuracy.

since this is the N Series thread, i will ask here, does it worth changing my N93 for an N95? How is the N95 sound compared with N93 and with SE W series?

@razec i almost forgot about that post, long time has passed since i made that post. As for the technical content of your post, i don't know which kind of AF does the N93 have

I wouldn't upgrade as if GPS is important to you it is better to buy a stand alone GPS receiver and Tom Tom which IMHO will give a much better result. The 16m colour screen is not a great improvement over the stunning N93 screen either so the only real advantage i can see is the 3.5m jack but using a AD-46 is better as it allows you to make and answer calls with ease, plus of course the N95 has HSDPA.

Personally i never saw the N95 as enough of an upgrade to interest me i am either going to get an E90 once released or if i have enough self control wait to see what else Nokia announce shortly. Although i usually run two devices i am more than happy with my E61 and really would like to see the next incarnation of this device if i can wait that long, if not the N81/N82 are likely to be my next devices if i resist the E90.

thank you for the thourough reply but it still kind of missed my first question, how is the sound experience in both n93 and n95? (well i know that in n93 it sucks) I want to know this because if the sound is better by default in the n95 then surely i'll ditch my n93, get an n95 and a pair of Sennheiser cx300 headphones.

Sound in N93 does not suck. Clearly you have no idea, from my experience with all N series, they have the same brilliant sound quality except N91 which is better than all N series. Sound in N95 is similar to N93

Can you explain why you think the sound sucks from the N93 as i found it to be excellent in fact the only surprise i had was that the sound from the E61 is just as good even though it doesn't have as powerful processor.

The only thing i can think of is that you are using the supplied headset which is not a good idea IMO or that you are encoding your Music @ to low a conversion to fit more on. Try encoding with the Nokia Music Manager in AAC @ the ultra high 160kbps and use a decent set of headphones nad i am pretty sure your opinion will change.

I find the sound to be excellent using my Sennheiser PX100s. I've had a W800, K800 and W900, and there's not a big enough difference between those phones and the N95 to make me feel that the N95 sound is disappointing. I'm more than happy with it.

Not being funny but they really aren't what i would call proper headphones and also @ what bit rate is your music converted @ and in which format? as all of those factors will effect the results greatly. As i have said 160kbps ACC with either Sony MDR-EX71SL or Shure EC2g using the AD-46 produces great results with a variety of different Music.
