@Andy_P
If you've read this thread you'll see that a number of people have suffered from poor keyboards and screen issues with the TyTN - on the other hand very few people have complained about faulty P990 hardware. I respect your view but I myself have to return 2 TyTNs.

yes, ill be honest ive only flicked through this thread as i never thought id get one, but i did see others' hardware problems. was this just early adopters from other networks? my tmob is a HT634x and i havent had any problems, although my 990 has only crashed once so far too so maybe i have a bit more luck as i can't be arsed to fiddle with them too much yet.
im just gutted that i always seem to know how to get straight to the function i want on the tytyn using the buttons, but with the 990 u dont even get all the arrow keys (flipoff) and the jogdial feels woefully innadequate compared to the previous pxx0's ive had
believe me, i really want to love the 990, but im not feeling it yet.

For anyone who has a Vodafone V1605, what deals did you squeeze out of Vodafone for it? They offered it me for £100 as an upgrade on my £30pm contract with free weekend calls, 500 texts/25MB of data, and 200 mins. I'm sure they can do better than this. They offered it me free in the Vodafone store on a new connection! |

TYTN Hardware Issues
1. My 2 day old Voda 1605's stylus got stuck today so i had to pull it really hard to get it back out, i then put it back in and it was really stiff and hard to get back out.. but when it did come back out, it also pull out some piece of rubber now the stylus is really lose.
2. Also, compared to my previous HT628, the slideout keyboard is really loose.
Is it really hard to come by a Tnyn that works. |

@bbsara - was your phone a new connection to Vodafone or an upgrade, and do you mind saying what you paid?
Thanks PTM |

It was an upgrade.
I paid £0 as my phone bill is around 150-200 sometimes a month.

i think it's a stupid idea to compare the mighty sonyericsson with a nobody like htc...no matter how many features the htc phone has it can never beat the p990i at popularity or at sales.

SE are so 'mighty' that their flagship phone was nearly 6 months delayed! It is still not yet available to the majority of UK phone users as it is only released with one of four major networks, and in the US it is unlikely to become avaiable on mass at all. |

it's an insult to compare p990 to tytn, try both the tytn and p990 before making those remarks that's what I did, the way s.e. is heading the p1000 (when it is released) probably can't do the things the tytn can.
first batch aside the build quality on the tytn is excellent,
and it looks so friggin small for all the things it does it's not even funny , also someone mentioned it can't access, http mail, I can access my yahoo and hotmail internet accounts just fine, I log into them just like I log into them on my desktop.
remember s.e. was a smalll company like htc was, it's their products that give them the reputaion not the other way around.

I don't think S.E was ever a small company..

Well they still are a small company, if you look at there market share compared to Nokia. But then if you look at HTC market share in Asia remember HTC made these devices they may have been branded Imate or Dopod but they still from HTC...so really HTC is coming on strong.
S.E I really dont know which route they taking, I did love the M600 a little buggy for liking but none the less still good.
I mean things like HSDPA are being announced left right and centre and SE has not even developed a data card that supports it (considering ericsson is installing vodafone with HSDPA equipment)
So to be honest I think its a love hate relationship and the lack of intertorribility between the two companies Sony and Ericsson could be there down fall.

not because, you didn't knew about HTC until the TyTn came out, what makes you think that SE are bigger than them. Just incase you didnt know, all those phone from Palm, like the Treo, HTC is responsible for them, only thing Palm did was to load them with there OS, and its name, but it is HTC who makes them. and as someone said above...... the same thing goes for the Imate, Dopod, SPV XXXXX, Cingular 8125.. and more.
So you probably should research stuff, before u start talking. |

it saddens me deeply to see the loyalties of so called sonyericsson fans...1 unstable phone, namely the p990i & people start jumping on to the htc bandwagon...if htc is bigger than sonyericsson then i wonder what all u htc afficionados are doin' here on esato which is a pre-dominantly sonyericsson forum???
as for nokia's market shares...nokia makes easy phones...easy to buy & easy to comprehend...in simpler words cheap phones for dummies.

now trying my 3rd tytn. took my 2nd to mallorca and it was useless, screen constantly a half inch out, everything kept crashing. had the latest for 24 hours and for the 1st time i'm impressed! Keyboard works fine, screen has needed re-alignment only once in 24 hrs. Camera app hasn't crashed yet although i haven't pushed it yet. At long last i could start to enjoy this phone.
Touch wood.
I still had the problem with windows media "losing" my 1gb card but the solution on this thread to delete the MSMETADATA file from the card works a treat - thanks for the tip, this was very frustrating.
As an added bonus Orange sent me a complete boxed replacement this time and only asked for the faulty handset in return so I got a spare battery, case, stylus, charger etc.

HTC didn't market under it's own brand name before is because it did not have the funds and insurance to do so, it made the phones as orders for PAYING companies, it had the technology but not the marketshare to back it up, now after working for other companies for so long it finally has enough cash to go solo,
as for 'loyal customers' I am a loyal customer, does that mean I will jump off of a ledge for sony ericsson, erm no
it's not just one phone, the k750 drove me crazy for about half a year to a year till it finally got... sort of stable, then the k800 was a dissapointment for some issues so I decided to get the flagship phone, which left me 1 year waiting for it (sadly) and then after it did appear (mind you it's not officialy launched everywhere) has more bugs than any s.e. phone ever, and the only things it seems to do out of the box is turn on.
I don't want to spend another year beta testing it after the year I wasted waiting for it. When I pay the top price for a phone I want it to work.
I still love s.e. and if their next phone is good I will buy it and support it, but if I buy they're phone is bad and I buy it without question it will only hurt the company and let the idiots running the show get away with more crap like this.
