SE are taking the pi**! How much longer!! Can they PLEASE give us a date and which network it will be available on?

Dude, it will be in EU around mid March.
Which network? easy one, it will be sold as Sim-Free and on special deals on certain network operators. The main problem is that network operator usualy receives the handsets after it is released to the markets as Sim-Free. They need time to evalute it on their own labs, insert their network services crap into it (which slow and downgrade the device on most occasions)... so to cut it short, Sim-Free on mid march, network, i guess it will be 3-4 weeks (at least) afterwards.

i dont think this is true we all saw the p990 first on an advert for ORANGE. i think they will have it exclusively for a month or so ( contract of course ). just like the p800 and the p900 were.

But that certainly wasn't the case for the P910. Orange were well behind Vodafone and even T-Mobile releasing that phone (I remember it well, cos I wrote a snotty e-mail to them about it, being an Orange customer myself).
And then when it did arrive they'd imposed their ridiculous, poorly-designed 'homepage' on it....
I will eat my hat if Orange is the first in the UK with the P990.... And even then, it won't make a difference to me. I've learnt the hard way that SIM-free is the way to go....
By the way, I first saw the P990 here on this forum. I haven't seen that Orange ad you refer to. Even the 'coming soon' page at orange.co.uk doesn't mention the P990.

The "organge" pic he was referring to came out well before the p990 was anounced, back when we didn't know what it was going to be called. Basically Orange released a picture of coming soon phones that contained an image of the p990.
And, yes, i would say dropping your p910i, with the right insurance, just before release would be very beneficial to you.

I'm hoping Vodafone will have it before any other network in the UK mainly because I want it first But also because of how strongly us and SE are together! But and its a big but, I spoke to marketing today who told me it'll be out in JUNE !!!

here in dubai, some cellphone shops are saying that it would be released by the end of january or early february with the release of nokia n91...also i dont think it would be released on June, ive noticed announce their phones then later release it after several months(i dont think they release it after 6months) out in the market. i think they have learned their lesson waaay back during the P800 days when it took them a loong time before releasing it. We esatonians actually have the rumors and habit of knowing the next phone even before they actually announce it, thats why i think that some of us feel that they release their phones way too long out in the market

@scormie
Just for the record, in the UK Orange were the first to release the P900. And like you, I think I will going for a SIM free or O2, which often does not SIM lock their phones.
So potential for first week in Feb! Wow can't wait. But expect to have a buggy device for a few months.

Now back to the topic Sony Ericsson is really hitting hard against Nokia here. just hope it wont be a silly price like £500 again like the p800 and the p900 was.

Yes, Nokia do not have a answer for SE line-up. After SE T68i I when to Nokia from 6230,6260 & now I'm having the 7710. This new SE P990i I think is Nokia N70 + I mate (3G phone + PDA) great smart phone.

Just as a headsup for all those eagerly awaiting the release of the p990 (like myself).
A very reputable seller at the Howard Forums marketplace (www.howardforums.com) is taking preorders for the p990 (which are scheduled to arrive around January 20th).
The price is $1350 CAD.
Here is the link:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=810380
He clearly states that these are not prototypes.
If this is legit (which would coincide with an earlier post of a release of first week Feb in India) - then I will be getting my p990 on the 28th of March (gotta wait for the price to drop, this is my self imposed deadline!)
