too bad... i think you better resort to third party servers... like davinciteam.com i dunno my phone was kinda like yours first time i tried to do an update via SEUS... and later ive found out that the SEUS version i was using really sux... so i waited for new ones to arrive... but during that period i tried davinciteam.com and it worked.. it updated my phone tho i shed some dough. are you in Manila?

whew! i thought i really f**ked up my fone. turned out it only needed a master reset (reset all) for the update to get through. after i did the master reset & started the update again i thought it will still get stuck at the last bar! but thankfully it went through. tnx 4 all ur suggestions, really helps

The camera sound has nothing to do with the firmware version in this case. It depends on what region you are in if your phone has forced camera sound or not.
I have a W800i from Denmark and I have no camera sound in silent mode - it depends on your region.

I don't think it intirly correct,
In other parts of the world they use the same phone, except they have other version of the firmwire.
I have read onether thread where it's described how you can gain acces to the phone's file system and change almost every piece of software including shutting off the camera sound.

What halfster wrote is entirely correct.
There are customized firmwares for several regions of the world, in regards to camerasound being off when in silent mode. This is due to regional laws that some places does not permit to have silent mobile cameras.
Has been so in S//E phones for years. This is nothing new or nothing strange.
Sure when you acces the hidden filesystem directly with the new software you can change that to your liking, but that has nothing to do with how the regional firmware is set initially.

Emailed O2 about their plans to release R1BC002 (or better) for W800i, and of course they were quite unhelpful. First time they said to contact Sony Ericsson. I replied explaining how network-specific firmware customisation works, and their reply said to contact my local O2 shop. Like they're going to be able to help. Shame, when O2 were (according to this site) the first and still the only UK network to release R1BC002 for the K750i, that they're neglecting the W800i. |

Yeah, they were quite unhelpful for me too.
SE told me that the sweedish server (where the firmwares checker is) check the necessity to upgrade the firmware, and if the server thinks is not necessary , you wont be able to upgrade to R1BC002 =(
It seems that the firmwares has versions too, like some one told it.
Thats =(
And i dont wanna pay for the cable to upgrade it w/ SeTool..
I think we should make some mass e-mails complaining about that and send it to SE heheh

It's O2 I'm grumbling about, not SE, in this case. I'm sure they can be as bad as each other, of course. |

Added some DRM information to the first post to assist Vodafone users to remove MP3 / AAC ringtone DRM requirements using the FAR Plugin. |

Spoke to "The Link" yesterday - problems with K750/W800 joystick are well known and resulted in a redesign for W810 - dust gets into joystick and leads to intermittent joystick which in turn causes some folks to force the joystick thereby snapping the plastic stick. Be warned! P.S. - our Dyson works wonders in removing the dust without snapping the joystick.
He also said that problems with N-series Nokia's are well known and as a result he could order the handset but required full payment before ordering. The Link's policy is to allow users to purchase but keep no stock of N-Series. No exact details but software problems across the whole N-series. This explains why O2 still don't do N80 and CFW have limited stock.
His suggestion was to wait for K800 rather than any Nokia even with the problems SE have had with K750. So - looks like another SE then even though I had set my self for the N73.

HELP!
I think my firmware update has got stuck on the 'Updating software - Please do not touch the phone' bit. The green bar is completely full and the update has been going forever... I'm worried that I will screw my phone up if I take it out, since there is no cancel option on the update screen.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?!
NEED HELP 'ASAP' PLEASE...!

Mine just did the same thing for hours. I just decided to do a "safely remove hardware" then remove it from the usb and it updated just fine.
I've used SEUS many times and I was a little worried because this was the first time this has ever happened.
Good luck.
