i have downloaded a zip file on my pc from this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441439 and the file is called "Touch HD Keyboard for X1" now how i install this file on my x1 .this file opens on my pc thru power archiver and when it opens alot of cab files are there in it but i dont know how to get this file on my x1.pls help.thnx

1) I've downloaded the blacktstone keyboard .

2) once you download the zip file, you have to extract the files. then you will see a folder which contain a .cab file.

3) copy that file to your X1 storage media. I use the provided usb cable. then disconnect your x1 from the pc and execute the .cab file. this will install the keyboard.

4) for the installation location, choose device (internal) instead of storage media. I've tried to install in storage media, but the keyboard fail to load.

5) after finish installation, the phone will ask you to restart. restart the phone and you will see the keyboard as one of the input option.

...I've just finished installing voipbuster and already made a long distance call.... it works perfectly.

Yes of course i knew the text size could be changed as i specifically asked it about before the X1 was even launched and it was the first thing i changed on the X1. I expressed my concern about text size from Videos and pictures i had seen and had been told i could change it which i did but it really didn't make anywhere near enough difference for me. Again your picture really doesn't prove anything you don't need a screen shot that exaggerates how it looks take a still picture of how it looks on the screen and not in macro mode either take it as if it's i your hand being used at the same distance you would be if using it. Or do you hold it just 3" from your face?

Now although i am much older than you i still have perfect eye sight no need for contacts or glasses thankfully. Now if i was the only person that had found text size to be an issue that would be one thing but that is far from being the truth. As plenty of other users are also less than happy with it and have said so.

But once again as is said earlier it may not bother all users and if not fine enjoy the X1 but it does seem to be a problem for quite a few and to suggest this

" Either way the only people who will have a problem with its text size, regardless of how small or large it is, are people with bad eye sight."

That is a joke right? you couldn't possibly believe that could you? as it is complete and utter rubbish as i said i have perfect eyesight and it annoyed the hell out of me. Have you gone round and asked everyone else that it's a problem for if they wear glasses? No i thought not.. It's all to do with personal preferences and just because it's fine for you doesn't mean it has to be or will be for everyone else does it? But suggesting anyone that finds it a problem has bad eyesight really that's just so funny.

Once more i really just can't understand why some feel the need to defend every aspect of a device as though it's a personal insult against them. There will never be a device that is perfect for all and just because a device doesn't suit some one doesn't make it a bad or useless device either just not right for them is all. But if you look around the Forums there are lots of people that love their X1's but there are also those that haven't and have either returned or Sold them. Just check out E-Bay and you will see how many of these in short supply X1's are for sale and they are not all branded versions either.

But when it comes to the issue of text size or even choice of fonts this is something that Blackberry with the Bold has really excelled themselves with 12 fonts and 8 sizes and to put it simply choice is good.

Hey Marc... let it go.
You've been justifying the return of your X1 for almost a month in every forum I visit. Now it is getting almost personal with Mizzle.

I haven't seen one single post making you feel bad because you returned your X1. No regrets. It is just like you said each one has a reason to keep it other have a reason to returned.

You don't like small fonts? Fine, Perfect. Others like small fonts? fine , perfect.

Nobody is against you. Please, let it go.

1) the default font of windows mobile is small....but not to the eye. I beleive nobody will have a problem reading the words..

2) the font/word is small to the finger. yes...this I agree for some of them. But...that's why we have panels to change the interface so that it will suit your need.

3) If someone find the font through windows mobile start button is too small for the finger, he/she can choose to use SPB panel for example. Through spb panel, the same function can be accessed using finger touch.

4) I also agree that the default virtual keyboard is small but you can install other type of virtual keyboard that is more user friendly. ( this is the advantage of winmo in my opinion).

5) by the way, I've seen a lot of iphone for sale on ebay (several pages).... does it mean that there are a lot of people don't like the phone ?

@My P910

Re your point 5 i was just commenting that the X1 isn't the best thing ever for all and that there are already a lot for resale. Which yet again doesn't mean it's a bad phone or rubbish just that not everyone thinks it's brilliant or right for them.

I have also noticed that the the price they are fetching on E-Bay is dropping so someone that wants one can pick up bargain a couple have gone for as low as £370 although others are still fetching £400-420.

@marc,

nobody is saying X1 is the best or the perfect phone ever made. It is a good phone... and as with all other phone or any devices... it will not be perfect.

I've been watching the completed auctions (because my son now wants one) and I really don't see anything unusual in the behaviour of X1 auctions compared with other SE or indeed other Nokia, Samsung etc at this time.

in early days, resale prices are generally set by people who have got cheap upgrades looking to capitalise on their re-commitment to the networks, although some are looking for insurance claims where the unfortunate buyer is going to get their unit blocked/barred while thinking they are getting a bargain.

In my experience, you cannot consider anything that happens on ebay in the first few months as a guide to the mood of the sellers or as a basis for setting a price

there are many who just buy the upgrade to resell at profit, and then more, like on esato, who get the phone to try because its and then sell on at profit

this scenario is repeated over and over with each release of any phone, not just se. I can remember having an N95 when released and wanting one for my son and within a month it wasn't hard to get one for £250 unlocked, unbranded which had been a free upgrade to the seller at the time. the same applied when the N95 8gb came out as I managed to upgrade him through esato for a similar price after a similar time

in my experience you really can't quote ebay prices seriously until they settle down after about 6 months or so

generally, WM phones are much the same whatever brand you buy since they are all, well, WM!, though I do think the X1 is the best built I have had though the HD is coming to me very soon

Hey,how does this device compare to the HTc Touch HD? The screen size and camera are obviously bigger/better on the HD,how about the rest? Is it safe to say the HD is the ULTIMATE phone/pda out there?
And some may find this interesting http://www.wmexperts.com/arti[....]ia_x1_panels_on_the_touch.html That much about text size arguments

Hi Mario,

I don't think "ultimate" really exist.
The valuation a of phone is very individually based (or biased) on 3 factors:

A- Subjective = Preferences,
B- Objective = Needs,
C- Economics = Price.

When you combine these 3 factors at best there is ONLY one "Ultimate" per person, BUT in reality you will seek the ultimate phone for ever, because it will never be one.

Having said that, allow me to list a few of my Personal needs/preferences

1- Definitely, I need/like physical querty keyboard. = Pro, Xperia
2- I prefer the hires = Xperia, HD
3- I need/like big screens = HD, iphone,
4- I want confort, slim factor = Diamond, HD, iPhone
5- I want portability small factor = Xperia, Diamond,
6- I need power and speed = Xperia, HD, Pro
7- I need lasting battery = Xperia
8- I like gadgets: FM, TV, Music, BT, GPS etc are desirable. = Xperia, Pro, HD, Omnia, Diamond
9- I like quality, originality = Xperia
10- Value/price = Any Phone, any price. I'll pay for the percived value
11- Carrier, bands, subsidized, unbranded = Xperia, Pro

My choice is Xperia. It is ALMOST my ultimate phone.

You are one of the last surviving haters...congratulations What type of phone do YOU have ?

I would say X1 is the best simply because you hang around here trying to prove that it's not. You know, people have a tendency to tear down what's on top

@pinguino2

nice list....

as for me, I want/like phone that feel like a phone. When I hold it, it feels like ordinary phone, but it is a powerhorse and you can do everything with it.

I like a small formfactor so that I won't feel that I'm carrying a scientific calculator in my pocket.
