@ ezinger

Officially R2AE is the latest but R2AT is available via the third party loggers (Davinci, Total MultiServer).

The camera quality on the K700 is average. Its good for a VGA cam. Maybe you are taking pictures in extended mode which stretches the image to twice its size. Take the pics in 640x480 (VGA) mode and make sure its a well lit pic, the K700 doesn't take very good pictures in low light conditions.

If you could post a pic you have taken that might help.

I used the new firmware R2AT003 for 2 days and i notice some improvements (from R2AE033) for exemple: a faster scrolling in image menu and a better photo quality, specially in the dark without night mode (less noise)
This 2 photos have been taken last night in 640*480 format without the night mode. They are originals and are not modified by any picture editor:

I say, these snaps look amazing compared to the ones I get with my AE033 K700....That is if what you claim is true and these have not been altered in any way...

Hello,

Have you tried flashing the firmware with the online update service and the DSS-25 syncstation?

Also maybe your microphone is damaged some how?

Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

Just flashed my K700i to R2AT003 using Davinci yesterday.

I can't tell you what a relief it is to get rid of the camera shutter sound. Doing only that was worth a credit. Second, changing the sms tones is a bonus. As said before, camera takes nightshots with MUCH less noise, even when not in night mode. Scrolling through the image folder is also a bit faster but not by much if you compare with R2AE.

I'm posting a nightshot and one taken after sunset so it was actually really dark outside.

Following Firefreak and cyberlip's camera experiments with R2AT, I have updated the first post to mention that R2AT takes better photos in low lighting conditions.

Do you know if the SE Desk Synchronisation stand (DSS 25) will work with the K750i

Thanks

It will not... the K750 and the W800 uses the new FastPort connector...

Thanks for your help.

Another question - Could I use a data cable, as shown here to upgrade the firmware on my K700i?

Nope, you need a service cable, not a data cable. [addsig]

Right...so if I buy some credits for Davinci (will my credit card or PayPall account suffice?) and take the k700 I have in a local service center that has a DSS-20, will they be able to d/l the new firmware onto their PC and flash the moby with the new firmware? I can at least try talking to the support people there to persuade them, needles to say, I'm a huge fan of night shots

Yes you can pay using PayPal. A little tip... PM a user called 619. He'll sell you DaVinci credits cheaper than off of the DaVinci website. He also takes PayPal.

A Sony Ericsson service centre will definitely not do that. DaVinci is not an official way of flashing. It is a third-party logger. So you'll need to do it yourself, or get a friend to do it perhaps. [addsig]

@RTouris:

If you have a SE Service Centre nearby then you will be able to take your phone along and they will update the firmware free of charge. However, they may not flash it with the latest R2AT - it is likely they will still be using R2AE.

If you specifically want R2AT and your Service Centre will cannot provide it, DaVinci is a good bet. You will need to buy/borrow a service cable, DSS-20 or DSS-25 to flash your own firmware.
