The following works with the K700, T610 & T230, so should also work with your phone, although I haven't tested it.

You'll need a SonyEricsson RS-232 data cable such as the DRS-11 or third-party equivalent from eBay. (There's no official Mac drivers available for the USB cable unfortunately.)

You will then need a RS-232 to USB converter for your Mac, such as this or this sold by Keyspan. This does come with drivers so you can use the above RS-232 cable on your Mac.

Finally, for sending files to the phone, via the above cable & converter combo, you'll need a program such as GSM Remote.

Hope that helps.

Here's the only other option, which I've never managed to get working.

Almost all USB cables for mobiles don't come with Mac drivers, however, the majority of them are based on the PL-2303 USB-Serial chipset manufactured by Prolific Technology in Taiwan.

In most cases the Apple System Profiler will list a device called 'PL2303', although MacOS X itself won't recognise the cable. There are different chipsets, but the PL2303 seems to be widely used in cheaper cables.

- To download the Mac OS X PL2303 driver go to their web-site here.
- Click "Download" and scroll to the bottom of the resulting page.
- Choose "Drivers for Mac OS" from the pop-up menu and click "Go"
- Scroll down to "PL-2303 USB to Serial Bridge Controller"
- Download the "md_pl2303H_HX_X_v1.0.9b6.zip" file for Mac OS X
- The zip file should un-zip and leave a "PL2303_1.0.9b6.pkg.hqx" file
- This is a Mac BinHex file which should be unpacked with StuffIt Expander
- Then install the "PL2303_1.0.9b6.pkg"

Hopefully your USB cable will now work! Because I've never got this to work, I'm not sure what you'd do next! Maybe GSM Remote will allow you to send files to your phone via USB.

Anyone know if you can transfer files (mp3 etc.) using MegaCellX?

I installed it on my eMac, and it looks like it will work. It recognizes my phone (depsite not being on the supported phone list). But since I have not registered it, I don't know for sure whether I can transfer MP3s with it, or if it's only for phonebook contacts.

I know the registration is only $20 US, but I thought I would ask here first since I'm sure some of you have used it.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure - none of the documentation mentions anything other than contacts and SMSs.

How did you get the program to recognise the phone? Which cable and drivers are you using? It could be useful to others to know!

I'll check the exact name of the cables when I get home. All I did was plug it in and it took a while to scan through the database of phones, but eventually it recognized it as a z500 without me having to do anything. Kinda' surprised me because on the website for MegaCell, the z500 is not on the list of supported phones.

I'll post more info on the cables tomorrow.

hi,
has anyone else got problems with the bluetooth remote controll function?

once conn. there are three options Presenter,Mediaplayer and Destop. No matter which one I chose, the special functions displayed on the K750i display don't work and the "joy stick" responds really slow and moves very slow and keeps stopping inbetween...

anyone else got this behaviour? or a solution?
I've tried re-pairing initiated from both devices with no difference...

Ok, I checked teh package last night. The cable is a T610. And I didn't install any of the drivers (Since they were only supplied for PC). I plugged it in and booted up MegaCellX and after a while, it recognised my phone as a Sony Ericsson Z500a.

The only thing I need to figure out is if I can transfer mp3s to my phone using it. The website leads me to believe it's just for SMS and phone contacts, etc., but when I was playing around with it, it looks like it might work.

If anyone has tried, please let me know. Otherwise, I might just pay the $20 US registration fee this weekend and try. I'd rather hear from someone else first though instead of wasting my $$$.

@Scooter,

Have you tried a product, called PhoneAgent? It is not bad. What are you looking for in the application? SMS'ng, Contacts, MMS, etc.... or just the ability to xfer .mp3's to your phone?

Phone Agent

@ enemymine

The pre-installed BT remote controls are configured for Windows PC applications. Go here and download Salling's Remote Basics. They work with Mac apps!

@ Scooter_TO

Its a T610 USB cable? Have you tried e-mailing the author of MegaCellX before parting with some money?

I think that's one of the ones I downloaded, but haven't had a chance to try yet. The website says you can transfer various file formats with it, so it looks promising. I'll give it a shot ont he weekend.

Thanks

Hi all, this has probably been covered but I can't track it down. I've just got a sparkly new K750i and there's a couple of things that I can't fathom out. First - how do I switch the address book from US format to UK? Is that even possible? T'other is I have these annoying '._' files everywhere on my phone now. I'm told it's from when I tried to use the USB cable to download some mp3's to my phone. I've deleted the mp3's themselves but I can't get shot of the dot underscore files. Any ideas?
