You can't conpare phones when firmware is still maturing.
When is the firmware mature? When it is considered bug free (and if so by whom?) or when the product has reached "End of Life"?
Could it not be argued that SE rushed the K850i with immature firmware? The benefit of a review such as GSMArena's is to see what you get if you buy the product NOW. And I think the majority of K850i owners wouldn't have a clue about SEUS.

When its bug free by the end customer ie yourself, me, general public e.t.c.
If the majority of k850i owners don't have a clue about SEUS then they should read the manual properly to find out about it. Have they read the manual? Probably not.

@plankgatan
As Gsmarena says that,k850 is not on par not only with n95 but they say it not even a worthy contender in 5mp segment
"we feel that this time the Sony Ericsson K850 is not on par with the other major contenders. While it sports wonderful camera interface and a wonderful xenon flash, the Sony Ericsson K850 simply doesn't cut it with image quality this year. All of our recent shootouts confirmed that the Sony Ericsson K850 is inferior in camera quality."
Sorry Plankgatan,My deep condelences,i think there's no point fighting the loosing battle.While all major reviews points out that,k850 is disappoinment again and again.SE got it wrong right from start from announcing and releasing the device,and totally messed up,and its hurting to hear that k850 doesnt even stand chance to be considered for 5mp.Lets hope atleast they get k860 or whtever right.As for now we have to accept the truth that n95 has better image quality and lesser noise,And with N82 being released,the only advantage Se had has also been crushed.There by totally destroying the sales of k850.And with many people having problems with automatic lens,and flash,and also everday we come up to See loads of new problem about k850 in esato and users being diappointed with it,is just another one example. |

@Masseur
Well you managed to make me laugh with this one
"most camera improvements come in the first firmware update, presumably because SE takes some note of user comments once they are widely available."
SE listening and taking notice of their users surely not now that would be innovative of them.

lol, well I just assumed they must get their info for changes from somewhere
@arunvc, the K850 is not (to use your words) "totally messed up"
and just another reminder that the comparison is between a mature product and one still on its first firmware
have we already forgetten the purple tinge of the original N95 firmware?

eeehhh..you know as well as me that a real xenon flash ALLWAYS take better, macro, short distance, long distance...xenon flash produce MUCH more natural colors.....
Isn't xenon too overpowered for macro shoot?
How about day light photo?
Btw, if u think K850 is the best for you, so be it. For me I wouldnt want to seriously consider one yet unless SE improve it

If I could use SO905iCS outside Japan, then the K850 is expected to meet it's RIP( as dogmann stated before ) anyway SO905iCS based from my research uses better Exmor based CMOS sensor than K850 albeit the lack of proper flash i think the LED flash installed seemed so powerful to comply with the requirements of taking distant objects at night

Ask any P990i owner whether he/she consider their phone bug free. Most owners seem to be pretty miffed that SE EOL'd the phone before fixing the disabled autofocus on video recording. (Video recording with autofocus was working with earlier firmware but was for some undisclosed reason disabled.)

If I am not mistaken, that was the "prototype" firmware. |

Mine was certainly not prototype. I got mine from Orange
I posted pics here where people commented on the purple tinge in the sky
also in the Post a picture (and video) taken with your N95 (nokia) there were such comments for other peoples pics
as I recall, the first firmware update (V11) fixed that

borrow a K850i from my friend for testing
one thing i hate for the camera quality seem mainly due to my finger keep on touching the lense
and there's no way i can avoid tht when i hold the phone in protrait mode while sms-ing
so ends up everytime i want to take a picture after sms will need some clean up but since i just got the phone...i don't have a problem cloth to clean it
all picture just come out blur.

@c96st
Number 1 reason for blured photos is auto focus is not fixed on subject. Did you check this? |
c96sthl Joined: Mar 31, 2002 Posts: > 500 PM |
the number problem on blur is because my finger print is on the lense!!!
i got oily hand just now and since i am at office i cannot remove those stain
and it just get very disappointed but as i said i will go home get some cloth to clean it before jump into conclusion
but i am comparing this to my sony T10
anyway most of the guys who saw the sample i snap shot just now said it is still ok for 4R
well i don't print a3 photo and i don't post it on a 1080P 50in LCD tv so i won't complain badly
but it is still irritating to clean the lense nicely just to get good picture |
